Very tasty New Yarmouth. A little more restrained than most of its brothers that I know. The alcohol is very well integrated, it's easy to drink away. The typical cookie dough, ester and funk aromas are dominant here.

8,8:On the nose, the first impression is estery with overripe tropical fruits like pineapple, mango, some citrus, as a wood is roasted with bread notes, spicy with vanilla, a molasses brings licorice, we notice some glue... On aeration, there is delicious marzipan, yellow fruits and some coconut, a very round combination. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is fruity with overripe tropical fruits like banana, pineapple, yellow fruits that round up glue notes, the wood is roasted with caramel, nuts, cookie dough, spicy.After nice rest, notes are very balanced, delicious, there is a toasted coconut, citrus and molasses with licorice. 8,7:The finish is long, dry, still pleasant with tropical and yellow fruits, roasted, smoky wood notes, now also chocolate, nougat and esters. After this was spontaneously opened for a MaiTai with DomM, because a few cl were missing for a "strong MaiTai", it was tasted again pure. Conclusion: it's already very good in a MaiTai. Neat, I classify it as one of the weakest New Yarmouth 2009s, having already had a few in my glass. But that really doesn't mean that it's bad, but let's see how the open bottle develops over time.

Wow, sharp-edged and alcoholic nose. With more time and care, lots of nail polish, esters, trop. Fruits. I had blindly mistaken the rum for a Hampden! Palate: FIREWATER! I have to be really careful here, because the alcohol is very present. With small sips, the facets reveal themselves: funky, fruity-sweet, dry The finish then turns bitter, salty and dry, but the fruity sweetness remains. Overall, the cask is rather inconspicuous here. A very good, strong New Yarmouth. I find many parallels to Hampden. Be careful with the first sip, powerful attack. Definitely not a beginner's rum but more something for freaks 😉

Another 2009 NY. It's a bit more restrained and softer, not quite as funky, but therefore easy to sip and a bit more relaxed than, for example, the RA. The alcohol is very well integrated. It contains all the important genes and is fun.

NY High Ester blind tasting with JNY20, JNY19, JNY15, JNE16 and TWJ 2009. For me, among the NYs in the blind tasting, this one has the most barrel influence. Therefore, a lot of woody/spicy aromas are present. Fruity notes are only subtly perceptible. Overall not as "in your face" and rounder than other 2005/2009 NYs.

These 2009 New Yarmouths are never bad and this one is also very tasty - although not quite as good as the creamier and richer Perola or the two RAs, for example. But still worthwhile for all those who like NY Pot.

#5107 13.02.2025 Running some samples at home while relaxing on the final days of my vacation. Nose Fresh, medium intense, fruity, light wood, light glue, light citrus, ester, faint chocolate. Palate Medium intense, light wood, fruity, light glue, light berries, light citrus, ester, spice, faint caramel. Finish Long and warm, light wood, faint roasted, light citrus, balanced, faint chocolate. Empty glass Chocolate, faint floral, fruits, faint caramel, faint vanilla. Needs to rest for a good while to really open up properly.

Nose It has everything you expect from a 2009 New Yarmouth: fruity notes of banana, pineapple, mango, a bit of marzipan, plenty of esters—all there but somehow lighter and more restrained than some other bottlings from that vintage. On the palate At first slightly oily... then very dry in the mouth. The fruitiness and spice get a bit lost on the palate... the alcohol isn’t optimally integrated. Finish is relatively bitter and very dry. In a Mai Tai, it holds up solidly. All in all, it can’t quite keep up with the recent bottlings...

Yet another very nice 2009 New Yarmouth. Pronounced cookie (dough) and overall influence from the bourbon cask. Delivers on the profile pretty nice. Side-by-side with other bottlings of the vintage, it doesn’t quite make top tear, however. A bit less intense and less complex than some other bottlings. Having this one on its own, you won’t be disappointed though :)

Doesn't quite reach the quality of CDI Perola or The Wild Parrot. They have more depth and a creamier mouthfeel. Still high 2009 NY quality here. Again lots of cookie dough, fruity, ester notes and acidity. That fits.

The shift from Australia to Jamaica is pretty blatant. In any case, the fruit becomes very tropical, esters are added, as well as a concentrated load of glue. I don't know what I like better right now :)

So this is the next hype bottling from TWJ, a New Yarmouth 2009. Very nice on the nose, some glue, some fruit, some acidity, very round and pleasing. On the palate there is also a nice triad of fruit, glue and acidity, all very round and pleasing, not too intense and nicely balanced. It lacks some of the creaminess of the CDI and also the depth, but it's still fun, simply a relaxed, delicious sipper. The finish is quite short. Doesn't quite live up to the hype for my taste, but still a very good bottling. I'm glad I was able to secure a bottle here, but I wouldn't necessarily need a second one.

This flavor play repeated almost exactly in the mouth before developing into a distinctly roasted and only slightly fruity affair on the finish, with very interesting notes reminiscent of salty smoked bacon. Nice one!

First NY from TWJ lots of pineapple, some marzipan, acidity, vanilla and cookie dough and quite a bit of ester. All relatively balanced with proper integration of the alcohol. No surprises but a nice bottling anyway (and there aren't many NY SC anyway).

Typical New Yarmouth 2009 profile with lots of cookie dough, overripe tropical fruits and compared to other 2009 NYs more roasted notes specifically reminiscent of candy bacon and nougat. Overall a bit too woody in direct comparison to other bottlings from the same vintage.

Another superb release from Whisky Jury 😍 Very good New Yarmouth, more discreet than others I've tasted but with beautiful notes of tropical fruits, vanilla, esters, varnish and glue. You find all that in the tasting, and the alcohol goes unnoticed because it's so well integrated. (I don't get those who said it resembled a Hampden... no comparison possible) In short, delicious juice with a never-ending length ❤️

2x NY 2009 13yr with comparable ABV (TWP & TWJ): Definitely the more classic profile with lots of tropical fruits, esters, spices and additionally citrus fruits which were not tasted in the TWP. But no baking spices and dried fruits. I personally like it a bit better.

Typical New Yarmouth, both on the nose and taste: esters, sour, tropical fruits. Unfortunately, it can’t quite keep up with the CDI bottlings. But NY friends will definitely get their money’s worth, and there aren’t many 2009 bottlings available on the market.

Very nice NY. Extremely fruity on the nose and on the tongue, esters and glue come on top on the nose. It's even slightly sweet. NY is slowly becoming my friend. I could imagine buying a bottle of this.

Blindly, I'd have gone for a big hampden. On the nose, it's clear we're in for something heavy. Everything's there: tropical fruit, glue, brine, esters. Everything is well balanced, with a hint of acidity and spice on the finish. Nice length, I really like it.

20/06/2025: Road Rummers Jamaican supertasting @ TastToe. On the nose: esters, tropical fruits, citrus and marzipan. Palate is similar with a nice length of finish. Good rum, but not the best New Yarmouth I have tasted so far.

I'm not sure if my senses are overloaded after the Jura LP 2015, but the nose seems quite unremarkable to me. Fortunately, New Yarmouth shows itself on the palate. Distinct technical notes, fruit, spices. Like with LP, I would guess continental aging, partly because of the color and then because of the immaturity. Apart from the shorter finish, it just still lacks something.

The taste is reminiscent of young NY from Nectar. This is not a typical NY, it's very young but very interesting flavour profile. I really like the wildness and fruitiness. I would buy the whole bottle to drink.

🟢 TWJ – New Yarmouth 2009 – 61.6% Heading to Jamaica, with a rum from a distillery often overshadowed by the famous Hampden and Long Pond: New Yarmouth. Long reserved for industrial blends (notably the famous J. Wray & Nephew White Overproof), this distillery has been making a name for itself among enthusiasts since 2017, notably thanks to Compagnie des Indes, then independent bottlers like The Whisky Jury, who include it here in their The Many Faces of Rum range. This 2009 vintage is a NYE/HM mark, classified High Ester (500–700 g/hLAA), promising a funky and intense profile. 👃 Nose: Right from the opening, it’s a fruity firework: ripe pineapple, mashed banana, but also a good dose of Jamaican funk, with marked notes of solvent, nail polish, and even a hint of green olive. A breath of fresh mint brings balance to this explosive palette. A typical, intense, and very expressive nose. 👄 Palate: Softer and fruitier than the nose suggested. You find aromas of dried banana, apricot candies, candied pineapple, with a nice natural sweetness. The palate then develops a fine minerality, followed by touches of citrus, even freshly cut grass. The whole is indulgent and lively, with a superb balance between power and freshness. 🔚 Finish: Medium length but very pleasant. Tropical fruits still dominate – pineapple and banana – while notes of sweet licorice and a hint of caramel delicately close the tasting. ✅ Conclusion: A real aromatic punch, just the way we like it: 61.6%, a high ester profile assumed, but with enough roundness and precision to never fall into excess. Between Jamaican funk, fermented fruits, and exotic pastry, this New Yarmouth signed TWJ is a brilliant success for lovers of strong sensations and balance. A beautiful sample shared and tasted with my buddy Mika to close this great evening.

This 2009 NY is great! It challenges you on the nose, as the glue, nail polish, and tropical fruits are very present. On the palate it's a bit tamer, though still demanding. Not something you just drink quickly, but let it work slowly. Then it’s extremely funky Jamaican. I'm really impressed here too.
