S.B.S Panama 2006
Deep, almost inky in the glass, and that colour tells you the port cask ran the show. Plum, prune and caramel lead, with a nutty, oily body and a light glue note from the Panama column distillate underneath. Several members enjoyed it but felt the sweet port wine got a touch heavy-handed — a couple wished for the same rum without the finish.

How does S.B.S Panama 2006 taste?
Aggregated from 15 community reviews.
Port-heavy Panama, dark and plummy Well-liked but divisive: the port finish dominates the light Panama spirit, and a few tasters found the sweet fortified-wine edge almost too much. Still lands as a tasty pour.

Rum from Panama always manages to harmonize with various cask types, although the rather light distillate usually yields to the cask influence. So it is with this good rum, which is very clearly dominated by the intense Port Cask, whose sweet fortified wine contribution is, for my taste, almost too much.

A very pleasant surprise. Beautiful strong taste of coconut, nuts, plums, caramel. The color is brutally dark, probably due to the port finish. Considering that I generally don't seek out Panama, I am very pleasantly surprised.

Quite sweet, lots of port wine influence, which pretty much dominates the rum here. Still, overall a tasty Panama rum. I would have preferred it without the port finish, which probably would have been more exciting.

Again very dark color like Dominicana (RX19276), caramel, slight wood, sweetness, very good.
