The Antigua Distillery S.B.S 2015
Here's the twist: at 59% this drinks softer and sweeter than the number suggests. Expect a lot of vanilla, caramel and chocolate from the ex-bourbon oak, plus a lively citrus sourness and drying wood on the finish. A few tasters flagged the "typical bourbon note" as a bit much, and one found it dry and boring. Pleasant, easy, but not challenging.
The community says- Vanilla and caramel
- Bright citrus
- But: Heavy bourbon note

How does The Antigua Distillery S.B.S 2015 taste?
Aggregated from 29 community reviews.
Sweet, vanilla-heavy bourbon-cask sipper Most find it sweet-leaning and easy despite the strength, with vanilla, caramel and citrus. The catch: several call the heavy bourbon character one-note and a touch boring.

This single cask rum at cask strength from the Danish Independent bottler S.B.S is made by the Antigua Distillery Ltd (ADL). It’s distilled in their column still in 2015, aged for 9-years in an ex-bourbon American oak barrel before bottled in January 2024 in only 271 bottles. The nose is woody, sweet and fruity with scents of vanilla, citrus and honey. At the palate it’s woody, sweet, fruity and spicy with flavors of bourbon, vanilla, citrus and chocolate. The finish is long, woody, spicy and dry with a flavor of caramel.

Unfortunately, this rum is not my cup of tea. It's somehow too dry and fizzy for me. Boring.
Review by Mentalo
Brings a relatively high level of sweetness and vanilla notes. Otherwise a typical bourbon note. Unfortunately, I'm not convinced at all, even if the rum is basically ok. Overall, not my cup of tea and simply boring

Oh man, what's going on here, I've almost forgotten what this rum tastes like. Here we have mostly vanilla and sweet stuff on the palate, this rum is not for experts, for beginners just so-so...

From the first nosing, you can tell this rum will be on the sweeter side (even though there is no sugar added, off course). I get loads of vanilla, caramel, chocolate accompanied by light fruity sourness and wood. Wood gets more pronounced with time spent in glass. The taste is sweet, chocolate and caramel gets its spotlight, which are supported by bourbon vanilla. To be honest, and this is just my personal preference, I'd prefer to taste less of these bourbon notes. Overall, I can say this is a pretty solid rum worth adding to your collection. 👍
