First unaged rum I’ve tried that hasn’t made my body physically recoil like Renegade Rum did! I believe the almost industrial like smell I’m getting (to me anyway) is the esters - definitely getting a tinge on banana on the nose and palate…. Unfortunately I’m quickly realising that unaged spirit isn’t really designed for sipping, I feel it’s more for cocktail oomph than anything else Water doesn’t make it better on the palate (in fact it makes it slightly rancid banana when water is added so avoid doing so!) Naturally this is utterly raw distillate so I imagine this is meant to be used for cocktails rather than neat sipping Not the worst thing I’ve ever had but doubtful I’m going to have it neat again - will have to find a cocktail to sink that into 4.5/10
