A very pleasant and fruit-forward Barbadian rum with dominant tropical fruits and woody tones. The nose is rich with dried fruits, honey, and tropical notes, while the palate balances citrus, apricot, and spice with a subtle bitterness. The finish is medium-length, with cocoa and oak lingering nicely. A great surprise for me, though I can’t help but wish for a higher ABV than 47. This rum has huge potential, and I’d love to taste it at full strength.

Back on the mystery sample from our last tasting Dugas – La Maison du Rhum Barbados Hors d’âge – 47% (thanks Thomas 🙌) Heading to Barbados with this Mount Gay Hors d’âge, column distilled then aged in ex-Palo Cortado Sherry casks. A profile leaning more towards rum, with a certain sweetness, but still pleasant and interesting to discover. Nose: honey and tropical fruits Palate: citrus and spices Finish: medium, on woody cocoa A very accessible rum, pleasant to drink, but whose “high-end” price positioning (mainly linked to the packaging) seems a bit off compared to the content. Everyone, don’t forget your mystery sample at our tasting 😉

Interesting 47% Barbados - unique pure column still. It is more like Panama or Dominican. Interesting, soft, sweet, not violent. Thanks to the interesting box, it can be a nice gift. Unfortunately, out of price range.
