Neat at 59% it works better than you'd expect — the alcohol sits fairly well-integrated for an unaged agricole. Bitten-into sugarcane leads, with citrus, herbs and a good hit of black pepper that pushes to the front on the palate. Most tasters find it dry, earthy and balanced. But where it really clicks for a lot of members is in a Ti Punch — that's the use it earns highest marks for.

Ein recht guter Agricole, der sich nahtlos in die Reihe der mittlerweile oft verfügbaren guten unaged Agricoles einreiht. Einzig der Alkohol ist nicht so gut eingebunden und stört das ansonsten harmonische Gesamtbild

What can you say about this Swell bottling? First of all, finally keep to your release date 😉 Otherwise there's not much to say about it, it delivers what you'd expect, but it's not a mega-bringer either neat or in a daiquiri that stands out from other bottlings. A good average rum that has a higher price compared to others of the same quality, as usual with Swell.

Da hat swell aber mal einen interessanten ungelagerten ausgewählt. In der Nase noch sehr Agricole typische Zitrusfrucht das Zuckerrohr kommt gut durch das ganze ist sehr balanciert. Am Gaumen rückt dann deutlich die Würze nach vorn. Viel Pfeffer bisweilen speckig dominiert. Im Finish dann auch eher erdige würzige Eindrücke. Finde daa Destillat sehr spannend und bin gespannt wie er sich im ti Punch macht, der Kernfunktion von weißem Agricole. Heute zum bottle kill im Ti Punch nacht dieser Agricole einen ausgezeichneten Eindruck dafür geht's einen Punkt rauf👍

A good Papa Rouyo with heart and character. The nose is like a huge sugarcane you bit into. You find quite a lot of floral and herbal notes (tea, thyme) but also spices (peppered cane) and fruits (citrus and exotic fruits). It's rather round, balanced and quite dry on the nose. The attack on the palate is very harmonious. The freshness of the cane and the vegetal notes are contested by spices and pastry and honey notes. Dried fruits and citrus add roundness to this already elegant and somewhat thick profile on the palate. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is medium length, both warm and spicy, but always supported by the earthy and fresh side of the terroir. A good bottling from Swell, which with this cuvée continues its expansion in the premium white rum sector. The quality/price ratio remains quite good.

Really great nose with lots of fruits, then on the palate rather extremely spicy, vegetal, and salty bitter. Unfortunately not really my thing, I simply miss any fruity aroma here and I don't like this earthy, salty bitter note... Addition: as a ti punch it does better. Notes of lychee and peach blossom join here, hence a slight bonus in scoring. Neat 7.2, ti punch 8.0, therefore 7.6.

#4797 27.07.2024 Relaxing at home with some samples while finishing @Band of Brothers@ on Max. Nose Medium intense, fresh, citrus, light floral, light pear, light herbal, spice. Palate Oily, medium spicy, warm, citrus, light sugarcane, light herbs, light vegetal. Finish Medium long, fresh, oily, warm, medium dry, citrus, light pear. The empty glass has stronger herbal notes as well as light grapefruit.

Here now a Papa Rouyo from Swell the Spirits. I agree with the ratings. Very vegetal and floral on nose and palate. On the nose, a bit of olive is still recognizable, on the palate some herbs. Alcohol could be better integrated.

Thanks to Zabo for the sample! Nose: Smells like a Classic agricole, sugarcane, fruity(citrus and pear) , fresh, floral, olive. Palate: Spicy… but still the same notes… Have I detected a lychee note here?🤔 Finish: Medium long, dry, with a bitter note like dark chocolate. BTW this is my first rum I have tasted from papa rouyo.

At the nose, I would have first expected a typical unaged agricole. I'm not a fan of that, can't do much with the hearty aromas like olive, tomato combined with pepper, which I also get with Paranubes, for example. In taste, however, it reveals a quite nice spiciness, or even a little bit of sweetness, which nicely rounds off the rum. While others here are quite one-sided, I get pleasantly much character with this rum, which expands again in the aftertaste.

Bel embouteillage de swell . Le résultat est très rond. Le nez est agréable, dominé par le fruit (poire/framboise), et un côté végétale (herbe). Bouche : on a moins le côté fruits , c est plus agricole végétale, agrumes poivre , mais on à bien un côté sucré aussi. Final : moyen avec côté herbe et un retour leger des fruits. Je trouve les 59° plutôt bien intégrés.

For an unaged Agricole really a strong number. Very complex with sugarcane, citrus fruits, olive, floral aromas, and spices. Also perfect for a Ti Punch – really fun!

First rum tasted at RhumFest 2024 😁. A very pleasant white with a distinctive character. Citrus fruits, sugar cane. Herbaceous and peppery. It's not very surprising but well done and pleasant. Nice.

Notes taken at Rhum Fest 2024, Quick notes and a bit heavy palate, sorry :) We have here: an explosion on the nose, earthy cane and big sweetness (big brix?) A rum: with pep, cane, citrus, peppery or spicy notes? Finish: cane and terroir! I loved it, and bought the bottle.

The nose is rather discreet. Big sweetness on this rum. Also quite fatty. A recognizable agricultural rum. Well-balanced overall. More spicy and herbaceous on the nose, the palate is on the greedy side.

Very pleasant citrus and agricole aroma. After standing for a while, great. Taste-wise, it's more classic. Sugar cane, citrus, lots of spices, green notes. If this rum were less bitter and less astringent, I would prefer it.
