A rum of a certain quality which is a little expensive for what it is... Very woody and a slightly light finish. Not my kind of rum!

Personally, it has a little too little fruit notes for me, but is otherwise a very nice and balanced Vieux rhum Agricole! In the finish, wood, tobacco, herbs and some banana peel shake hands... Makes for a gigantic French Rhum Manhattan!

Has my recommendation, it’s really great, but I have choose the XO for my rumbar from Neisson. Tasted this one out at the Baltic Sea at an Masterclass during a rum cruise with Birka Cruises. Lots of wood, vanilla and fruitiness in it.

A Neisson classic. The nose opens with woody, spicy and earthy notes, accompanied by sugar cane, lemon and honey. The mouth continues on this nice roundness with a vegetal touch. The finish on the other hand is rather short. In spite of a pronounced sweetness and a rather high price positioning for a VO, this rum is still appreciable.

Typical Neisson with macaroons and tart freshness. A hint of animal notes on the nose. The best part is the finish with citrus and dried fruit, really great. Sure, it's not a 12 or 15 ans, but it has everything that makes a Neisson, just less complex, not very strong, but drinkable. PLV is awesome.🤩

8,1:On the nose, the first impression we get is an authentic Martinique rum.A sugarcane is juicy, very vegetal, with honey, peppery, fresh and sweet, fruity with citrus, tropical fruits like passion fruit and some yellow like peaches, earthy.It is mineral, also very floral. On aeration, dryness comes out, dried fruits, woody notes.The nose is in balance between dry and mellow, peppery and suave, a very beautiful scene. 8:On the palate, the attack is silky and warm, cane is velvety and floral, slightly herbaceous, juicy, fermented, then becomes increasingly spicy/peppery, then rather sharp, a coppery sensation is wiping the tasting buds and a hint of a licorice.The fruits are tropical with passion fruit, yellow with peaches and still dried, the wood brings resin, nuts. 7,7:The finish is vegetal, the cane is still flowery, juicy, dry, some wood notes are present, pepper, with a bitterness of lime peel a hint of mint....

On the nose you can tell the rather young age, it leans more towards the fruity-planty, slightly sour side (compared to the 12-15 year olds), but there are also nutty notes, caramel, vanilla. On the palate very round and soft. I like it! Many thanks to Vienna for the sample!

This one was a huge surprise. The price tag on this bottle is very good considering what you get. Super high quality at a very good price. The nose is very well balanced between wood and fruit which is trailed by vanilla, nuts and a hint of honey. The palate is complex and balanced with wood, wood tannins and fruit trailed by vanilla and sugarcane. The finish is medium long with wood, fruits and vanilla with a hint of nuts. A very good buy indeed!

Looks like a solid/typical from Neisson. Very enjoyable from start to the finish. I like that! The alcohol and barrel is integrated very well. The finish is awesome! Some typical agricole notes paired with almonds, licorice and ginger 🤤

Nice rum from Neisson. On the nose, mostly wood, some vanilla is also recognizable. On the palate, the wood/vanilla ratio is a bit more balanced. Also, it is still quite spicy on the palate.

Neisson dances out of line as far as Martinique rums are concerned. Clearly more herbal and more sugar cane on the nose. In addition, a very special milk note like yogurt, fruit and spices. A younger, but still complex Agricole.

Very pleasant to drink, the nose is gourmand apricot and pear in vanilla syrup enhanced with a little floral and woody side. On the palate it starts with a slight liveliness, then gourmand and woody. The finish remains woody / sweet vanilla.

Packaged in a very round and soft overall package, the drinker gets a nice introduction to the world of Neisson with this rum. The vegetal side of the Agricoles is clearly recognizable but never dominant or veering into vegetal territory. Instead, honey-sweet sugarcane notes, lots of yellow fruits, some herbs, and fine oak with gentle spices flatter the palate.

The Neisson style is quite recognizable in this rum whose nose is dominated by vanilla, wood, and cane. Pepper comes in on the palate, with fruity and herbal notes. Woody finish. It's soft and pleasant. Always nice to have this surprisingly fresh cane despite the rum's age.

The nose is pleasant, very fruity. I believe their Vieux is a 105 profile aged more than 3 years in oak barrels. The ripe pineapple stands out well, with a background of banana or honey. Its aging has not removed the fresh cane accents. A second nose reveals a very present vanilla. In short, it smells good and promises excellence to come. The palate is more on the spices. It disappoints in the sense that it does not meet the expectations of the nose. It's discreet, with a bit of cane on a background of grey pepper. And that's it. No complexity, no aromatic richness, not really any emotion. A Clément VO does better, an HSE Black Sheriff has more character, a Depaz Cuvée Victor offers a profusion of aromas on the palate. The finish just makes us think 'is that all?' The cane remains present throughout but without anything more.

My first rum from Neisson and it’s a good start. Surprised me with its complexity. The herbal notes of agricoles are hard to find. The sweet spices like vanilla are more toned, beside that I feel some dried fruits and sugarcane notes. I love its roundness, probably will look for other releases as well.

Fresh on the nose and rather dry on the palate. Finish a bit short. A well-constructed agricole that goes down smoothly. The only criticism I might have is maybe its somewhat high price compared to its age and strength and a slight mismatch in complexity favoring the nose.

A sure value from Neisson that rarely disappoints. It is woody and spicy, very round. It goes down easily even though it is quite complex if you take the time to let it breathe well. Its finish is a bit short for my taste but considering its low strength it holds up. It's a rum I liked a lot without being ecstatic. I recommend it, it's a classic.

03/10/2025: Neisson tasting @ TasTToe. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. A lot of candy like notes on the nose and palate, without being overly sweet. Great bottle to introduce people to agricole rhum. I would've liked a slightly higher ABV though.

A rum not yet fully developed. The alcohol level is quite present but it’s intense and very pleasant. It’s the entry-level vieux from Neisson and a real success for this price. A very long finish. I’m quite surprised by the average rating because it’s a well-built and quality rum. After the third sip, I revise my opinion and increase the rating by two points. I’m won over.

Really well done in terms of balance this agricole rum. Doesn't stray from the beaten path but I have to say it's well made. That's what you expect from this bottle. Good fun 20/06/2026: balance is the first word that comes to mind at the first sip. There's a bit of fruit with apple, spice with vanilla and a little something spicy like chili, a bit of wood that doesn't overpower the vegetal side with cane showing its nose, some nuts with almond. Everything is well balanced but nothing really asserts itself fully and stands out. Good rum

Nose: Honey, vanilla, all kinds of grasses (wet and also dried), lemon zest, marzipan, fine herbs, mandarin cream cake, oak spice. Palate: Creamy and quite full in the mouth. Sweet and sour notes are in good balance. Also very "grassy" here. Vanilla, honey, jute bag, herbs, a hint of tropical fruits in the compost bin, macaroons, milk chocolate, passion fruit, oak spice. Finish: Medium to long finish. Vanilla, tropical fruits, milk chocolate, cream cake with passion fruit. I like it! The (only very subtle) ester notes bring that certain something.

Nose is delicate with lemon and sugar cane. The mouth opens up with more honey and sugar cane as well a light spice and brioche. The finish is fairly short but brings more spice and wood, softening to a fairly sweet banana element. It’s actually a rum which grows with time, give it more time to sit and relax with the flavour and more depth comes through. Maybe a tad underpowered and thin on the finish but otherwise a very well put together agricole. Pushing an 8.0 and may update my score

Powerful agricole rum which puts the sugarcane in the nose as well as on the palate into the background with woody aromas. Also the typical aroma of fresh grass is not perceived on the nose. Here fruity notes of dried plum and possibly pineapple can be detected.
