Review by Boletus
An appealing rum where both its youth and the lack of aging in a real wooden cask are hardly noticeable except by the rather short finish and the almost non-existent woodiness. At first sip there is a strange note of cardboard coated with plastic for a brief moment, but the smooth mouthfeel and the developing caramel candy/honey sweetness combined with the esters are really impressive.
Review by Tim
Bombastic! The nose is extremely balanced, as if you had an old Jamaican in front of you full of vanilla, chocolate, and a remarkable combination of fruit esters. A pleasant sweetness in the mouth rounds off the experience and makes the 59% very pleasant. The only weak point is the thin and short finish; otherwise, an 8.7+ would have been possible. Sensational price-performance, if you have the chance to buy directly from the distillery.
Review by Lennart Hofeditz
Very interesting what can be done with wood chips. Somehow very toasty and dry because of that. Very pleasant smell. You can clearly taste the floral notes and there is no sweetness at all. It almost has a certain smokiness. Not exactly a daily sipper and with an interesting finish. I can't agree with the previous speaker that the finish is short. But I'm no expert on rum from sugarcane juice. The 59 percent is very well integrated though.
