A rum tasted at the Lucerne Rum and Gin Festival in 2024. A beautiful nose with caramel, roasted pineapple, wood and vegetal notes. The palate is smooth, just like the nose it’s very clean, no off-flavors. The alcohol is present but perfectly integrated with roasted, grilled flavors of pineapple, wood and leather. The finish is long for a Cuban. A very beautiful rum from start to finish, without flaws. It’s not wildly complex aromatically, but it gives a lot of pleasure.

Wieder mal bin ich sehr skeptisch wegen der inflationären Cuban Rums.… der Rum ist sehr süß, am ehesten Port Finish. wirkt wie künstlich aufgesprittet. Nett zu trinken, aber Abgang sehr kurz, nicht wirklich Komplexität vorhanden.

8,8:On the nose, toasted wood with caramel, burnt sugar, caramelized, pastry, biscuits, mocha, baking spices, dried fruits like raisins, figs, dates, pineapple, vegetal molasses, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the wood is slightly smoky, leather and dark chocolate join, so do citrus fruits and mirabelle plums, the molasses earthy with tobacco, a bit flowery. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is sweet with toasted wood notes like pastry, burnt sugar, butterscotch, fudge, crème brûlée, leather, coffee, spicy with nutmeg, vanilla, fruity with dried apricots, raisins, citrus and tropical fruits like pineapple, hints of coconut, some plum, as the molasses is vegetal, earthy with tobacco.Bourbon barrel impact is strong. 8,5:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, with toasted oak notes, spicy, nutty, fruits like raisins, mirabelle plum, candied fruits and earthy, vegetal molasses.

#6066 16.12.2025 Cleaning up my palate after another sweet rum from my Christmas Calendar. Nose Light wood, light caramel, light sugarcane, light tobacco, faint honey, cinnamon, light leather, dried fruit. Palate Oily, warm, wood, light roasted, light earthy, cinnamon, light nutts, light tobacco, dried fruit, light caramel. Finish Long, wood, light roasted, light leather, light tobacco, light honey, light caramel. Empty glass Light caramel, tobacco, light nutts, light sugarcane, truffels.

Was quite skeptical due to the average rating, but was not disappointed. The caramel aromas, which sometimes turn into a wonderful crème brûlée, are incredibly strong. Alongside that, lots of toasted wood, spices, coffee and leather. Alcohol is top-notch!

Tasted together with the extended FranconianTasting gang, but with honorary member Jakob. In this 3-flight RX19982, RX25592 and RX22454. All old Cubans provided by Rumurmel. For me the ranking would be: 1. RX25592 2. RX19982 3. RX22454

On the nose: light oak, caramel, and raisins. The aroma is very soft, without any sharpness. The palate is also similar. Lots of light wood with a hint of sweetness and smoke. This creates a slight dryness. The finish is short to medium. The alcohol is well-integrated. A nice rum, but for me, it's not worth the price.

An interesting bottling due to the long maturation. The alcohol is very well integrated and it is great how the sweetness of the Cuban rum harmonizes with the toasting and the oak wood. It comes with a strong raisin note. Overall interesting because of the long maturation, but not super complex.

According to its age, nice wood notes can be found, which work well with vanilla, dried fruits, and caramel. Also some pineapple and coffee (with good will). On the palate, almost a bit too sweet at the start. Good rum, but in my opinion – very much in the tradition of old Cubans – clearly overpriced.
