El Ron Prohibido Gran Reserva 15
Opinions run low and loud here: most tasters find it very sweet, with strong coffee, chocolate and heavy wood, plus an odd raisin note one reviewer compared to licking old supermarket raisins. The near-black color surprises everyone. A few call it drinkable in cola; several just find it artificial and thin-bodied. More sweet dessert dram than classic sipping rum.

Really bad at first taste. Got better and better. Better with Coke than without

Edit: He shut me and the young wild ones down at the parents' party, mission accomplished, cheers to the headaches getting up 😂 So found another bottle in the cellar and tried again. So it’s definitely not a unicorn, but probably good for a donation to the youth to support them a bit. So another rum/slow seller leaves my cellar, finally 🤣

Primarily sweet. For me as a beginner, it is drinkable, but somehow not the best. I mainly get sugar, caramel and slight coffee notes in the taste. Smells more like rum to me than it tastes.

The color :D Pleasant sugar solera in terms of taste. But the color tops everything... Dark brown/black
Review by Tobin
Way too sweet. The only interesting thing here is the combination of total mildness and almost biting sharpness.
Review by Skyfly
Quite strong wood, coffee, and chocolate flavor from start to finish. The wood is definitely too strong for me, as if the rum spent too long in an unlined cask. The alcohol tastes weak and everything feels a bit artificial.

Not really rum like, tasted pretty ok furthermore
Review by Rumpalumpa
Quite interesting, but not really tasty. The notes of coffee and chocolate are particularly intense but overall the stuff is very sharp and is masked by a certain dustiness reminiscent of a cheap peated whisky.
Review by Thilo Stromberg
Delicious rum suitable for hearty meals, also after a beer tasting, or just for enjoyment. Not recommended if you have previously had something sweet, like a sweeter rum.
Review by Maxi
Smell is initially overloaded. After the nose gets used to it, you can detect raisins, caramel candy, white chocolate, and milk chocolate. Still, there is something in the nose that I can't place (artificial / earthy). On the palate, different types of chocolate come through immediately. Cookies, milk chocolate, white chocolate, and coffee. The rum feels very thin and diluted right away. No particular explosion of flavor. I would describe the sweetness as syrupy. However, nowhere near the level of A.H.Riise. Comparable to Don Papa, also very flat.
Review by Rumantisch
This rum is more for cola, it's the next step after Bacardi and maybe after Don Papa that you drink as a young adult. For experienced rum lovers, it's obviously not suitable.
Review by Oliver
Extremely artificial sweetness. Apart from chocolate, not much comes across...
Review by Johannes G
Relatively full-bodied rum, but not unpleasant. It is nevertheless too sweet. The taste is characterized by wood and vanilla with the aforementioned sweetness. Certainly not a very bad rum, but not particularly good either. I don't really know who I would recommend this rum to.
Review by JFehr
Rather flat and with a penetrating artificial sweetness
Review by Jonas Kofod
To me it suits for a Cuba Libre. For a better result, consider another rum.

A bite into a chocolate bar! Sugar sweet! Diabetes says hello.

Dried raisin juice and raisin "dirt". Like actually licking old raisins from a supermarket open box. Experimentally drinkable but not actually enjoyable. Just... completely weird. Gross. Avoid at all costs.
