What a board! 😍💣🇯🇲 Nose: sage fried in olive oil? Plus fresh mint, lots of toasted coconut chips but also dark chocolate and various tropical fruits such as papaya and passion fruit, as well as some sandalwood and Virginia tobacco. Taste: Dark chocolate, sandalwood, passion fruit, cinnamon, mint and, again, subtle sage fried crisp in butter (nut butter/beurre noisette), as well as the coconut and some cinnamon. But there is also an almost meaty note that makes the whole thing umami. But it's also often part of the tropically matured long ponds and I love it! 😃 Finish: Menthol, orange peel, blossom honey and intense but pleasant, slightly bitter tannins from the oak barrel, as well as light, minimally burnt caramel notes. Very, very cool. Chapeau for this barrel selection Oli, Jakob & Rob! 👏🏼❤️😍 A real firework of aromas!

Wonderful Long Pond with proper tropical maturation. It has that NRJ feeling and that's exactly my thing. Great nose with lots of vanilla, tropical (partly overripe) fruits, roasted notes, leather, barrel, nut, candied and the delicious LP umami note with curry leaf. The palate is pleasantly dry when sipped but still very similar and a fine tannin / bitter note develops which fades out with the umami, vanilla, beurre noisette and candied spice notes (and comes back wonderfully with every sip). Super bottling and exactly what I was hoping for. TOP.

Nice nose with a great balance of tropical fruits, vanilla, and spices. On the palate also nicely round, great balance of tropical fruits, spices, and some wood. The alcohol is quite well integrated, a bit of water doesn't hurt it. The finish is medium-long and tasty with caramel. For me, a very tasty thing and a successful first RumX release. Glad to have gotten a bottle. Let's see how it develops in the air; then there might be room for a higher rating. Edit: OK, with a bit more time in the air, it's really nice and reminds me of a nice 94er New Yarmouth. Therefore, I raise my rating to 8.9.

So the nose of this colleague is not lacking. Very nice notes with a sweetish vanilla aroma. Dominance of pineapple. A real stunner on the palate with a wow effect and a long finish. Really lingers for a while. What I particularly like is the buttery finish. A certain ester punch gives it the character that remains in the memory. Really great cinema and a successful bottling.

Surprisingly sweet and caramelized profile for a Long Pond. A very pleasant woodiness on the nose. Then vanilla notes are felt. Then pineapple, very ripe fruits. Wood, light. It makes you want to. On the palate, you find something more familiar: very ripe fruits, esters, spicy notes. Then again caramel, vanilla and a surprising coconut. The woodiness comes next, much more marked than on the nose. Lots of indulgence. Beautiful complexity. Long and woody finish. A little salty roasted side. Nice length. PS: oxidation brings a fruitier profile to this bottle. It's really very good. The 64% are well there. Well integrated, but wow! Not for weak palates 😁

I was particularly looking forward to the tasting, as tropically matured long ponds - especially the 2005 VRWs - are among my absolute favorites. A little crosstasting straight away. Vale Royal: Although low ester, in direct comparison the Vale Royal has the most ester markers in the form of solvent and glue. Everything is subtle and cannot be compared with the high ester representatives. There is also a lot of tropical fruit, spices and some chocolate. -> 9.0 V&M: Light esters and some solvent on the nose, lots of floral/perfumed aromas, but also lots of fruit and spices. Perhaps the most complex nose of the round. The whole thing continues on the palate, slightly soapy (not disturbing) and lots of fruit here too. Less intense than the other representatives, but just as much fun :) -> 9.0 Romdeluxe 2005 68.5%: I've had this in my glass quite often by now and it continues to delight. I can hardly believe that this is supposed to be a continental matured LP2005. For me, the best nose in crosstasting together with the V&M. Probably has the most cask aromas overall. -> 9.1 Romdeluxe 2005 68.4%: Here, too, supposedly purely continental maturation...? In addition to tropical fruits, I detected perfumed aromas on both the nose and the palate, as well as mint/menthol, almost reminiscent of TDL. Super exciting and also very intense. Definitely stands out from the other bottlings. -> 9.1 About the RumX bottling: After about 1 hour of breathing, lots of fruity notes on the nose, especially tropical fruits (mango). Plus vanilla, lots of spices, caramel, some wood and coconut and something slightly fermented. On the palate, the usual intensity. Again tropical fruit in the form of dried mango, caramel and vanilla and a hint of solvent. A very good 2005 VRW with a super PLV! Conclusion: The VRW Mark is simply fun :) All the bottlings are of high quality and are convincing. The rating is probably decided by the form of the day. All bottlings have a similar spectrum of aromas, whereby these are differently pronounced depending on the bottling.

An exciting Long Pond, but also not quite typical, as it is unusually sweet. Vanilla, toffee and nougat make the rum creamy. Plus roasted aromas and fruit. I find peach iced tea and cotton candy. The rum remains in the mouth for a very long time and then herbs and very light menthol are added. The rum finishes very well and invites you to continue drinking. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. The tropical ageing is very noticeable here. It tingles wonderfully on the tongue. A very successful bottling, even if I had hoped for a little more fruit. I'm curious to see how the rum develops. But it's definitely fun. The complexity is there and there is a lot to discover.

A truly outstanding cask selection. A really successful RumX bottling. Excellent nose of vanilla, roasted notes, coconut and light sweetness, which is also reflected in the finish. Tannins are also clearly perceptible. Alcohol well integrated.

On the nose I have a lot of nuts and especially coconut, some toffee, vanilla, wood and a slight roasted note. On the palate it gets really cool. The coconut is accompanied by a very subtle menthol note. Nuts and toffee are confirmed and rounded off with a nice spiciness. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. Without this menthol note it would be a super 8, but thanks to this aroma it is a 9. super stuff! Try it again tomorrow...let's see if it stays with this ranking.

8,9:On the nose, the first impression we get is a coconut, toasted, vanilla and glue, as a wood is roasted with toffee, candied, caramelized fruits and sweet. On aeration roasted notes like pastry, nougat, continue, the wood is spicier, we notice a molasses, herbaceous and flowery.Very tempting fruits express themselves like passion fruit, pineapple, banana and yellow fruits...I found a hint of petrol note also. 9,2:On the palate, the attack is extremely delicious, round and full-bodied with variety of fruits like tropical(mango, passion fruit, coconut, later banana), yellow with juicy peaches and dried fruits like raisins, apricots, roasted wood notes like pastry, toffee, chocolate, caramel, spicy with vanilla and cinnamon, after resting the rum, with umami and herbaceous, slightly flowery molasses. 8,8:The finish is long, dry and tannic, a bit smoky, but less expressive, round as on the palate.

Mega! It was clear that the guys from RumX would come up with something special for the bottling, but this drop exceeds my expectations. From the color, nose and palate to the finish, you can tell that the rum has undergone a lot of tropical maturation. Beautiful, fruity nose, with a little bit of glue, nougat and coconut. On the palate, the fruit recedes somewhat into the background, replaced by wood and a pleasant sweetness. Beautiful, long finish, with a very light menthol note.

Extremely strong, complex nose. Solvent and menthol. Spice and nut. Some dark chocolate and dried dung. Coconut and tropical fruits. Awesome!! 🤩 On the palate then the mega fruit explosion. Followed by spice, nut and roasted aromas. Nice finish on the spicy side. A dream for every sniffer. Offers Jamaican fruit pleasure without fur on the tongue.

Diese Long Pond VRW-Abfüllung überzeugt durch Tiefe und Komplexität. In der Nase zeigen sich Leim, Nuss, Kokos, Holz, dazu feine Noten von schwarzem Tee, Cassis und leicht jodig. Am Gaumen wirkt der Rum vollmundig und vielschichtig mit Pfefferminz, Traubenzucker, dunklen Beeren und etwas Mango und röstigen-würzigen Komponenten. Im Vergleich zur Bottleshop-Abfüllung gefällt sie mir noch besser. Insgesamt finde ich die Abfüllungen heute unterschiedlich. Tolle Auswahl RumX Team🙌🏼

Very nice! Intense in the nose with glue, fruits and notes from the cask. Wood, spices and chocolate make an interesting and complex nose with the LP funk. Also high intensity on the palate. Fruits and spices are mingling with some sweetness. This is dangerously good providing lots of complexity. Thanks Serge for sharing!

Start the Rum Day with a bang ;-) Great nose, especially very roasted and spicy. But the barrel and some vanilla are also recognizable. On the palate then a nice, light sweetness, especially caramel and vanilla, but still spicy and roasted.

Three different VRW LP 2005 bottlings in the glass today. Bottle store & RumX Community: They are very similar in profile and very complex. For me, the Community bottling is a little more intense and voluminous on the palate. The Whisky blues: Also very complex and somewhat spicy. More astringent on the palate than its competitors and longer on the finish. Much woodier and with more chocolate notes, but a little less fruit. All three brilliant rums!

First impression already excellent. I have to let the emotion sink in and compare it with the whisky age bottling. This long tropical maturation will remain an experience in terms of taste anyway 😋🤗 After a few minutes in the glass, the umami note completely took hold of me and I simply had to increase it to 9.0. Great Long Pond where everything is just right. Tropical fruits paired with vanilla, spices, wood aromas and some glue on the nose. On the palate, a fusion of tropical fruits and caramel, as well as roasted aromas and light esters. The finish is still super long with caramel and roasted aromas. Simply wonderful!

Hier wurde wirklich ein herausragendes Fass ausgesucht mit einer ideal balancierten Symbiose aus überreifer tropischer Frucht, jamaikanischem Esterfunk, lebhaften Gewürzen und röstig-toastigen Fassmomenten. Die Entwicklung im Mund vom anfänglichen Esterkick über prickelnde Gewürze hin zu einer sehr gefälligen toastigen Cremigkeit mit Kokosnuss, Schokolade und Vanille ist beeindruckend. Dazu passend hat das Destillat einen ausdrucksstarken Körper mit einem herzhaften Grundcharakter. Großes Kino!

A very good rum, complex as desired. On the nose a good smell of glue/solvent is present. On the palate it's quite different, with roasted fruits and wood leaning towards tobacco. The alcohol is very well integrated, a very good surprise. Thanks Oliver 👍

Wow! I've tasted it several times and every time I'm stunned. It's insanely refined, between chocolate, spices, old varnished wood, caramel, umami. All with a beautiful length and some esters that don't take up too much space. Superb!

Im direkten Vergleich zum 2005er VRW von Romdeluxe. Romdeluxe ist fruchtiger, hat mehr Säure und leichte Teca-Vibes. Im Abgang dann leichte Röstnoten. Die Rum-X Abfüllung hat mehr Röstnoten. Kokosnuss. Subtile Fruchtnoten. Im Abgang eine schöne Schokoladennote und etwas Fass. Beides tolle Abfüllungen. Persönlich präferiere ich den fruchtigeren Romdeluxe. Anderseits ist da der Alkohol schlechter integriert. Wegen den Teca-Vibes aber hauchdünn vorne.

Something special for the opening of the outdoor season, the RX bottlings. 😍 A wonderfully fruity aroma flows into the nose, with a lovely sweetness of toffee and something slightly mineral/metallic. Surprisingly sweet in the mouth at first, before the strong, spicy, roasted aromas take over, along with light umami notes and minerals. A really great barrel that was selected for the anniversary. I was really looking forward to this rum. I hunted down a bottle for myself and got a sample. At first whiff you can clearly tell the Jamaican and also the LP. The taste has a slight bite at first but then it mellows out and the flavors of wood, esters and tropical fruit come in. Nice and smooth.

Wow, what a beast! Wonderful bottling, the tropical aging is very clear, very intense aromas of burnt sugar, esters and buttery influences of vanilla, slightly bitter notes at the end reminiscent of Guyana that do the overall picture good, so it doesn't get too fruity/sweet. The alcohol is very well integrated, although the 64.6% ABV packs a punch and puffs up your cheeks. Spectacular, hats off! Many thanks to Kevin for cracking the bottle together, I feel very honored!

Community filling for rum-x. Like many of you I really wanted a bottle, had reminders to start selling,, really tried and still, although I think I'm a big fan of the rum-x app and the idea of not having a bottle as such. At least you can see it was fair and the bottle sold out in 8 seconds. I see a huge strength in the community, and I don't think any other bottling will sell out in 8 seconds this year. Well done mates!

Excellently made and very complex. With water, chocolate notes are added to the nose, then coconut and toffee on the palate. Not a fruit bomb, but rather on the roasty, spicy side.

Sweetish aroma of tropical fruit, mainly coconut and pineapple. It reminds me a lot of Foursquare. Taste-wise, also similar to Foursquare with a touch of Jamaica. In the finish vanilla, tropical fruit and esters. Overall it comes off quite sweet and it's not the typical LP I would have expected.

Cool color. Bright copper/amber. Wow - what a sight. The nose is highly aromatic. Dried fruits, caramel, exotic fruits, light esters, round and complex. Light wood. Extremely stimulating and classy. On the palate then power. The very well integrated ABV greets you. Nice sour astringency in the start followed by a mix of natural sweetness from brown sugar combined with the dark aromas from the cask with a hint of roast notes. Surprisingly mild wood notes for the 19 years in the cask. The long finish on the aromatic darker side. All together dangerously delicious. If it were still available, one or two bottles would be immediately in the cart.

Since I didn't manage to buy it, thanks to Pavel for the opportunity to taste from his bottle for RumRock. For me, both in aroma and taste, a very fruity LP. The fruitiness really wins. Then vanilla, some baked fruit and after a while the characteristic taste of glue as we know it from LP develops beautifully. I was surprised by the taste of mint at the end.
