1731 Fine & Rare Travellers Belize

Grilled pineapple, caramel and a bit of toasted coconut, with light oak and pepper behind it. This 7-year Travellers from 1731 is soft and fruity, easy to drink at 46%. Several tasters call it a good starter Belize and a great mixer, though a few find the nose flat and the finish short. Nougat lingers in the empty glass.

Aggregated from 54 community reviews.

Soft, fruity everyday Belize and mixer Well-liked as an easy, fruity everyday Belize and a strong mixer at this strength. The catch: the nose can read thin and there's little "special" for experienced drinkers.

On The Rocks: On the nose it has a dusty aged mild fruit and spice but is not sweet smelling at all. Taste has an initial alcohol with burn with a very delayed building of fruit flavours and sweetness going into the finish. Finish is medium with the fruit and sweetness fading away. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose it smells like an old dusty warehouse containing Pepsi zero. Taste has a mild fruit and sweetness that just coasts into the finish. It is equally good mixed and on the rocks.

Typical Spanish nose with an extremely herbal note. Somehow acidic-fermented, for me extremely disturbing and almost disgusting. On the palate, fortunately, nothing of this to feel, a strong-spicy rum for Spanish conditions, vA at this ABV. However, I lack a little special here, so that my overall result by the Störenfriede nose rather sober.

8,1:On the nose, the first impression we have is fruity with an apricots, cherries and very buttery butterscotch, as woodiness is greedy but also seems very old-fashioned, rustic, with a melted, past character. You get the feeling that the tannins have mellowed with age. Aeration develops chocolate notes, dark, round, some really roasted, others more fermented, there is some vanilla and metallic notes with menthol later on. 8::On the palate, the rustic character comes through much less. The woodiness is now typical of American oak, with vanilla, spicy, tobacco, sweet caramel and a touch of coconut milk. With nice rest, there is some gourmet nougat, tannins come out and is a bit metallic, as fruit compote with clove is also there. 7,8:The finish is long, woody, dry and spicy, there are tannins, cocoa, coconut, chocolate and toffee.. Edit:22.12.24-very pleasant sipper, an upgrade to 8,0

Blind tasting 01.02.2024, 1st rum Nose: spicy at first, then sweeter and sweeter, Jamaica? Palate: no, not Jamaica, very light, but not typical Jamaican fruity-earthy; you can drink it, but you don't have to Resolution: Belize? I would never have guessed that. Definitely a good starter.

The nose is very restrained, slightly nougat and chocolate, and coconut. On the palate much more present, initially slightly sweet with nougat / chocolate flavor! Towards the back, light wood notes are added. The finish is slightly astringent! Delicious

Travellers

Avg Rating 8.0/10 over 250 Rums

Travellers is the rum that put Belize on the map. It began in 1953 as a bar in Belize City, grew into a family distillery under the Perdomo name, and today is synonymous with Belize rum. Its molasses spirit comes off a hurricane-proofed column still in three different marques, and a deep stock of aged casks has made it a quiet favourite of independent bottlers around the world.
