Small samples at home. Very light color a bit disconcerting, first nose almost odorless which surprised me a bit, but after 1 hour of airing: apple banana and pear on the nose, with a medicinal side (surely the banana). With further airing we are almost on tarte tatin. On the palate: vanilla, pear, medicinal, Finish: Very spicy, almost chili but not so long. Not bad but I'm not convinced.

#4965 30.08.2024-01.09.2024 Had a great time both before and after the event. Friday was opening party on a boat with Dirk and Saturday and Sunday meeting up with new and old friends Nose Light wood, faint smoke, fruity, banana, plum, light ester, light glue. Palate Medium intense, light wood, faint roasted, fruity, banana, faint glue, light medicinal, medium spicy, light ester. Finish Medium to long, light dry, light wood, fruits, banana, medium spicy, light medicinal.

Tasted in direct comparison with the 2004 Clarendon from Precious liquors, the DNC unfortunately clearly loses out. The nose is rather flat and meaningless, everything is simply missing here. Unfortunately, it's the same on the palate.

A lot of wood initially closes off everything else, orange fruits slowly come through. The bourbon barrel also dominates the taste. A little (tropical) fruit can be detected. A fine example of continental storage.

Der Duft wirkt zunächst sehr vielversprechend mit reifen Früchten, Holz und etwas Lösungsmittel. Am Gaumen zeigt sich jedoch vor allem scharfer Alkohol, Holz und ein Hauch Karamell. Erst nach etwas Zeit an der Luft gewinnt er spürbar an Qualität.

Tasted at German rum festival Very tastefull. Better than the Uitvlugt DNC bottling in my opinion. Definitely recommend tasting it.

Die Nase lässt viel erwarten, viel überreife Früchte, etwas Holz und Lösungsmittel. Im Gaumen dann leider eine Enttäuschung. Die Früchte sind absolut im Hintergrund. Dominieren tun ein medizinischer Alkohol und Holz, dazu etwas Karamell. Nach längerem Atmen (30 min) bessert es sich deutlich.

Precious Drops 19yo Clarendon (DNC) Review: A lovely yet peculiar nose—rich with sweet maltiness, nougat, and a hint of puffy cookie. This sweetness is counterbalanced by tart, vibrant fruit: unripe plum and sour cherry, with a touch of sweet guava and passionfruit adding complexity. On the palate, it’s intense—both sweet and strikingly sour—carrying an ashy texture (perhaps from the prior consumed cheese) and a sharp acidity that keeps things lively. The medium-length finish is slightly shorter than expected, given the bold attack on the palate. Notes of pungent brine and fresh green tones complement an astringent finish. This is unmistakably a classic Clarendon profile—one that hasn’t always been my favorite, but I find myself appreciating more and more as my rum journey continues. This particular bottle is backed by a nice sweetness that balances throughout. There’s an addictive quality to that briny, green, sour-apple finish. Happy to recommend this one (1/1 binary scale)
