Most tasters land in the same place: lovely, soft nose, then a body that can't quite keep up. You get caramel, cherry, milk chocolate and roasted hazelnut with honey and dried fruit, all velvety and gentle. But at 40% several found it thin, with a short finish. This is the oldest in the Cihuatán line — easygoing rather than powerful.

Very nice nose, soft and smooth, plus points for that. This is by far the best thing about this rum, which has been aged for a long time. However, the 40% suggests that the mouthfeel is too thin, and so it is. The finish is also too short.

Note: Employment at Perola GmbH (spirits industry), partial professional involvement with the evaluated bottlings. All reviews are my personal, unpaid opinion. For fans of Cihuatán, of course, an absolute must-have as the oldest in the series so far. Nice nose of cherry, banana, caramel, and chocolate; on the palate, subtly woody with roasted hazelnuts, honey, and dried fruit, plus milk chocolate again. Overall, a smooth, elegant rum for people who want something a bit more approachable, relaxed, and less intense.

The nose - sweet, caramel, dried fruit, coffee.. The color is like honey - yellow/gold The taste is sweet woody tones, dried fruit hazelnut…soft, velvet..the aftertaste is short, not complicated….smooth. Good for beginners, nothing special for advanced…
