Neat at 61.2% this one comes out swinging — the alcohol dominates the nose and tongue, and more than one taster wished it had stayed longer in the cask. Behind the heat there's toffee, orange, coconut and a honeyed sweetness, plus a roasted, slightly burnt-and-bitter edge on a woody, dry finish. A single-cask Foursquare that divides the room: interesting, but not the distillery at its best.

Fortunately a short finish. Not only a piercing nose but also more alcoholic in the mouth than anything else, so fruit notes and others can't really unfold. If the alcohol didn't burn so much in the nose here (even after longer standing) and numb the tongue, something could have come out of it.

Very roasty, bacon-y Foursquare! The typical banana, coconut and nut notes are rather in the background. This one probably could have done with a bit longer in the cask, the alcohol could be much better integrated. Also tastes a bit burnt and bitter in the back. Not necessarily one of the better Foursquare...

On the nose rather flat and unpleasantly sharp, on the palate coconut, the best part is actually the finish with a delicious Nutella note. Overall it doesn't blow you away.

Foursquare Distillery 2010 Barbados Compagnie des Indes Bottled for Germany Distilled: 12.2010 Bottled: 06.2019 Aged 8 Years 61.2% Cask No. RFBS139 One of 253 Bottles Molasses Rum Color: Light Gold Smell: Sweet and aromatic. Aromas of toffee, fudge and oak. Also chewing gum and Capri Sun orange juice. Taste: Initially sweet and slightly fruity in the mouth, then spicy. When swallowing it becomes alcoholic-spicy-hot, peppery and intense. Tastes like honey and fudge. Delicious! Finish: Medium long, spicy sharp and woody dry. Old wood, bitter in the aftertaste.
