Most tasters land in the same camp: a strong, characterful St. Lucia single cask that rewards patience. The nose is all ripe mango, pineapple and caramel over oak, then the palate swings dark — heavy spice, roasted wood, pepper and that old medical-bandage note from the John Dore pot still. At 62.3% it's dry, oily and hot; a few drops of water tame it and let the fruit back in.

31.02.2025 Retasting at the German Rum Fest 2025. Earned a few more points. --------------- #4962 30.08.2024-01.09.2024 Had a great time both before and after the event. Friday was opening party on a boat with Dirk and Saturday and Sunday meeting up with new and old friends Nose Wood, roasted, fruits, spice, light pineapple, light ginger, light caramel. Palate Medium intense, wood, roasted, fruits, light mango, light pineapple, faint ginger, spice, faint chocolate, light dry, medium spicy. Finish Medium to long, wood, roasted, light tannins, fruits, light mango, light spicy, light dry, spice.

It is difficult for me to discern. The profile alternates between wood and fruit with esters flashing up again and again. It's not boring for a second, but conversely it's also very diffuse. Therefore, it doesn't quite want to pick me up, but conversely can be "rediscovered" again and again... For me, St Lucia often resembles a ride on the razor's edge, which often succeeds, but doesn't quite fit for me here. 87/100 or 6/10

The nose of this St. Lucia is captivating. Sweet/sour fruits (berries), combined with caramel, wood, and a bit of vanilla. Very promising. On the palate, this aroma play continues at first... but then it shifts to the dark side. Extremely bitter, spicy, and woody, you really chew on it. You have to like that; for me, it's a bit too much. Late in the finish, dried plums appear.

A rum tasted at GRF in 2025 at the Chairman's Reserve tasting. Wood on the first nose, ripe tropical fruits (pineapple and banana), pear, vegetal notes and a light menthol. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, with good acidity, overripe fruit and a hint of ferment. ripe fruit and a fermented, yet sweet, St. Lucia character. The finish is rather long, with menthol and oak lingering even longer. A very fine single cask. The Master Selection series comes from a single still and sometimes a single cask.

Once again, St. Lucia delivers an enormously high quality in the glass, considering the price. The tropical fruit basket with the natural basic sweetness of brown sugar and molasses in combination with the not exaggerated, toasty-smoky oak spice is a delight for the nose and palate. Unfortunately, this Master's Selection is a little less powerful and does not have quite as long-lasting esters as cask #0420063008 (Kirsch Import), but it is round, drinkable and has a very well-integrated alcohol content.

Inspired by Mariano56, I tried the RX208 and RX20200 against each other again today. The typical St. Lucia markers are recognizable in both, but they are still different. In a direct comparison, I liked the RX208 better, the RX20200 is more of a daily sipper for in between.

Very nice fruity nose. This is a lot of fun 👍 On the palate then mainly caramel-spicy, the tropical fruits recede a bit into the background. In the finish somewhat peppery-sharp and slightly uneven but definitely appealing. Overall not perfect but a very good rum for a very good price-performance ratio.

Super intense and powerful Chairman's. Typical John Dore pot still with that intense smoky aroma (incense and burnt hay). Alongside that comes intense mango, papaya, guava, orange peel, green banana, as well as sharp fresh ginger, red and green pepper, anise, licorice, and intense tannins from the oak barrel. Very dry, heavy, and oily. The alcohol could be better integrated, but aromatically it's an awesome rum! Adding 3-4 drops of water really helps to open it up a bit and make it less beastly.

Trade fair rating Village Nuremberg 2025 Super solid Chairman's with great tropical fruit notes (everything from mango, guava, banana, papaya to pineapple), raisin, spice, caramel, and lots of barrel. Great rum.

Poured from a bottle that's been open for ~1 year, and is ~80% full. A very good rum from St. Lucia. Reminds me of some EMBs with medical bandage notes. Barrel influence is very present with this one, giving the rum a rich and tannic mouthfeel. Various tropical fruit notes throughout help keep the rum bright as well. Well balanced overall, just wish it was just a bit more explosive though.

Trade fair rating Village 25: Nice Chairman with insanely good price-performance ratio. Esters, fruits, wood, spices, all there. Alcohol integration not optimal, but that could also be due to the trade fair conditions.

Out of necessity, I had the first sips of this drop from a tumbler and they amazed me. In the nosing glass, the alcohol overshadowed the aromas. Stone me, but of the 3 Master's I've had, this one impressed me the most. Really nice nose of tropical fruits, sweet caramel, oak and spices. At first, I thought of Port Mourant, because I again have that old gauze bandage in the nose, quite intense. 😀🙈 On the palate, it shows its dark side, with strong spice, wood, roasted aromas and smokiness, plus a good pinch of pepper, accompanied by sweet caramel. A few drops of water make it more accessible, if you want. The finish is incredibly long, amazing! Really great stuff with a very distinctive profile and at a great price.
