Not what most people expect from a German rum: this cane-juice distillate reads almost like vegetable soup. Olive, grass, tomato and cucumber up front, a little raspberry, then a surprisingly creamy, sweet palate with faint oak on the finish. Several tasters caught a Clairin or agricole vibe. Interesting to try, but the vegetal-plus-sweet combo divides people hard, and the finish runs thin.

RumX Advent Calendar, day 26. A vegetal, floral nose with hints of vegetable soup and a slight medicinal note. In short, not my favorite nose by far. The palate is clearly floral, still with that strange vegetable soup aspect. The medicinal side is also present with fruit, pineapple and acerola. The finish is short, with the bitter woodiness and medicinal edge lingering longer. Tasted again and it seems better, but these vegetable soup notes are too strange for my taste.

RumX Advent Calendar 2024 Bonus 2. I don't like this one so much. Too vegetal. But overall, it can be said this was a top calendar. Many thanks to the entire RumX team. The best for me was the Appleton Estate. In total, 4 ratings of 9, 3 ratings of 7, the rest in the 8 range. Thanks again.

Unfortunately, not my cup of tea at all. At the same time quite sweet but also super floral, herbal and slightly umami smoky. I would have liked something more special for door 26, bonus or not...

RumX Calendar 2024 Bonus 2: Fresh sugarcane juice, grass, citrus, olive juice. First thought: Clairin. Extremely creamy on the palate, vanilla notes, slight wood spice towards the end. Alcohol barely noticeable, extremely smooth. Only in the rather short finish does a bit of sharpness come in. I like it, even if a bit one-dimensional.

Christmas wrap-up last part... fruity nose of sweet sugarcane juice with lots of vegetal components (olive, vegetables). Okay. On the palate the same, but sweet with chocolate and caramel. Very inappropriate for my taste. But I'm team molasses anyway.

RumX Advent Calendar 2024: No. 26 Last rum in the 2024 calendar. This rum has a lot of vegetal notes (olive, basil). I think it probably didn't have a long barrel aging. Alcohol is well integrated so far.

RumX Advent calendar 26 Totally unusual rum the nose is very Agricole-like. The taste then somehow better unbelievably creamy and sweetish notes with still vegetal flavors. The finish is unfortunately too short but still very velvety soft. Overall nothing really unbelievable. But very interesting to try.

An exotic from the Black Forest and without expectations the bottling pleasantly surprised me. Sugarcane, vegetal notes, a bit of raspberry. Unfortunately for me personally too sweet and with a very thin finish.

Very vegetal from start to finish. Simple and without much interest. Only the plum note on the palate seems nice to me. It reminded me of an ESB (agricultural) but fattier. Honestly didn't convince me.

Day 26 of the RumX Advent calendar: This German sugarcane distillate is characterized by very vegetal, almost vegetable-like, sweet sugarcane notes. As for fruits, I can only make out raspberry, otherwise cocktail tomatoes, red bell peppers, and a fresh cucumber-pumpkin combination dominate the flavor landscape. Hardly anything from the barrel can be detected, only a somewhat woody aftertaste comes through. Nice to have tried this rum, but it hardly suits my taste and honestly it's too sweet for me.

Allrighty then… let’s give it a go one last time 🥲 It was a wonderful Advent calendar. Thanks to everyone involved, from the organizing team to everyone taking part int the quiz as well as people adding their notes in the app. Very vegetal nose, some minerals and saltiness as well in the beginning. Suprisingly sweet, mellow and round in the mouth. I’m guessing that the alcohol is at 40-ish %, can’t imagine it being much higher, max 43%? I can certainly understand the link to Clairin/Haiti, but the ABV is hard to match. A young sugar cane juice r(h)um, but which one 🤷♂️

Interesting rum from the Black Forest in Germany. The nose clearly shows the used Amontillado sherry casks ... fruity ... but raspberryy. I haven't smelled that in a rum before. On the palate, cherry aromas dominate. Medium-long finish. Very pleasant to drink.

RumX Advent Calendar 2024 Bonus Door Number 26: Very vegetal / hearty on the nose. Especially grain, tomato, olives. Flavor-wise hardly surprising, except that the rum is a bit sweeter than expected.

RumX Adventskalender 2024 Tag 26 (Bonus 2): An der Nase eher leicht, mit einem leichten Touch von Banane. Am Gaumen ebenfalls sehr leicht mit etwas Banane, dahinter nicht viel mehr. Vielleicht noch etwas Creme Brulée. Wirklich kein komplexer Tropfen. Aber auch nicht schlecht. Alkohol bei vielleicht 50% oder weniger. Joa. Kann man trinken, trinkt sich entspannt weg. Hinterlässt aber auch keinen Eindruck.
