Mint is the headline here — stalky, menthol, almost chewing-on-mint-stems — layered over apple, dried fruit, oak spice and a faint medicinal edge. For a Trinidad molasses rum at just 44.7%, most tasters find it surprisingly full and complex, with a pear note running start to finish. One member called it "very menthol and rubbery," in a good way. A few wish it had more body.

Very pleasantly surprised! I've actually never had an Angostura in a glass before, so it was the best idea to taste this rum blind first. When I smelled it, my first association was that it must be a kind of TiPunch, with a very present, inviting citrus note. On the palate, it was a pleasantly spicy rum, not necessarily fruity. It wasn't until I could taste a lot of mint towards the end that I was relatively certain that it must be a TDL, one of the later ones (2008-2010). All right, very close - or maybe not. 😉 But that doesn't detract from my assessment at all: what a great rum with only 44.7%! 😋

#4777 11.07. 2024 Relaxing evening with some nice liquids 😊 Nose Wood, complex, spice, apple, roasted, faint chocolate. Palate Wood, light roasted, medium spicy, complex, spices, light apple, light dried fruit. Finish Medium to long, medium spicy, complex, wood, light roasted, light dried fruit. The empty glas has vegetal and light medicinal notes as well as a light cherry note. Rather complex rum despite the relative low ABV.

Caribbean Club bar Barcelona May 2026. Next T.D.L, probably rather cheap, but still tasty. Of course lots of mint again, also slightly woody and medicinal. You take what you get :)

Really nice but many will prefer the more muscular versions from our dear independent bottlers. What's interesting is this pear note found throughout the tasting.

👃🏼 = I sense a nice fresh very fruity (orange, mango, banana), caramelized with a bit of wood and vanilla. 👄 = the spices +/- sweet take over with wood, chocolate, leaving the fruitiness in the background, in a slight fatness and a normal finish with a bit of bitterness and pepper. It's a really nice rum, bringing spices on a fruity mix 👍

Typical Angostura aromas that maybe come a bit more intense. A bit earthier and more mint. Seems a bit alcoholic at first, which improves over time in the glass. Otherwise nothing special, but not bad either. Without direct comparison I like the 1787 a bit better, as the reduction suits the rum better. What that says about quality, I'm not sure. Overall solid, but if you already know or even own other Angostura bottlings, you won't find much new here. A bit of a pity.

Strong TDL notes...mint, mint stems, caramel, vanilla, some red fruit. Quite full for "only" 44.7% ABV. Great drinking strength. A little too bitter on the finish for me. Reminds me of chewing on mint stalks. Quite a long finish though. Great bottling and unexpectedly tasty.

Wow, I'm impressed ! Nose: Lot if mint, apples, herbals, oranges, ginger & little bit of leather and wood. Taste: so much mint ! Apples, herbals, tobacco, ginger, candies, pears, roots, cardamon, bergamot ! Wow !!! Didn't expect it. Aftertaste: dominate of mint, cardamon, herbals. Some olive, apples & ginger. Amazing

Nose almost only dark (woody) spice, angostura scent; tongue slightly biting, slight sweetness somehow, there is a lot to discover... strong barrel influences, nice finish

Tasted as a sample. Very good molasses rum, spicy, woody, a quite pronounced cocoa side with a compote of exotic fruits and a beautiful pear that accompanies us from start to finish. Nice length on the palate.

First time trying this one, and I’m really enjoying it! Nose: I get apple with a good amount of wood/spices behind. Also some kind of tropical fruit, maybe mango. Taste: a lot of mint! Very unexpected, but nice. Very complex layers of wood, spices, apples and mint. Finish: a nice long finish, more towards wood and tobacco rather than mint/apple.
