Blend of 65% red cane / 35% blue cane, aged in ex-cognac and new French oak barrels. On the nose, vegetal notes, barrel, nougat (toasty-nutty), fig, sour fruit (starfruit). On the palate strong, sweet-spicy, barrel, tannins. Not bad, but with all the effort put into this, I expected a bit more.

Typical agricole aromas on nose and palate. Young wood, citrus fruits, dried fruit, barrel influence (cognac). In the finish more complex with bitter roasted aromas and dark chocolate. A good agricole but absolutely unspectacular. I had hoped for much more here.

This 4yo Longueteau single cask rum from the Esperance Distillery in Guadeloupe is released to celebrate the companionship with the Maison de l'Hédonisme. It’s made from a blend of two distillates distilled in 2016, 65% Red Cane and 35% Blue Cane. It’s first aged in old cognac barrels and thereafter in new French oak barrels whereafter it’s bottled in 290 bottles. The nose is fruity, woody and sweet with scents of varnish, raspberry, honey, vanilla and some licorice. At the palate it’s fruity and woody with flavors of guava, gooseberry and pastry. The finish is medium long, dry and woody with an acidic flavor.

Dégustation à la mer en plein vent, Pas simple, un jus sympa mais assez typique des vieux agricoles je pense, le cognac ajoute un petit plus sans que ce soit exceptionnel. Il y a quand même de belles notes de noisettes, noix, poire, des épices / poivre en fin de bouche, un bon moment, vif, mais assez éphémère.

#6482 13.03.2026 Having an extra to reset my palate a bit 😂 This is a really nice and intense profiled rum. The nose is fresh with sucarcane, orange, anise and berries. The palate is nice and warm with wood, orange, berries, anise and light honey. The finish is nice and dry with wood, light mango and some pastry notes.

Nice nose, some well-ripened slightly tangy citrus, pear, hints of dried fruits and red fruits, supported by light wood and cloves. A little liveliness on the palate entry with the citrus, then a nice sweetness with dried fruits (date and figs). Light wood and mild spices at the finish. Unfortunately, the finish is quite short, slight bitterness, you can also clearly feel the cognac. Too bad the finish isn't more sustained. Overall a nice rum, well made and pleasant, but nothing exciting.

Pleasant and varied profile where you find a bit of everything. Fruit, agricole, indulgence. Nevertheless, it would have benefited from aging longer to have more roundness. Or maybe a little reduction would have done it good...?

It's a matter of fact, aged longueteau never get high scores in my tastings. This one makes no difference. A sirup-y nose driven by cognac and fruits (pear) but yet fresh. Silly but working more on the nose than the palate, same traits just worst alcohol integration.
