Seasoned rum fans who enjoy classic Caroni tar/rubber notes in a more elegant, slightly sweeter and well‑balanced package rather than full-on dirty intensity.

Less suitable for

Beginners or those expecting maximal, heavy Caroni funk and very long, powerful finishes; also not ideal if you prefer clearly woody, dry profiles.

This is an old tasting from the time I lived in China. The tasting was a surprise so only a few notes were made on a paper napkin 😊 Not as powerful as the 1982 but stiil very nice typical light Caroni flavours. Good ABV integration, great balance and a nice dark colour. Has some natural sweetness to it.

Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Bei den beiden 1983er Caronis fällt auf, dass die dreckigen Noten nicht sonderlich präsent sind, stattdessen kommen auch eher leichte, d.h. LTR-typische Süssenoten zum Vorschein. Für mich liegt der (angebliche) Full Proof mit 55% ein Stück vor dem 52%-High Proof dank etwas mehr Komplexität und prägnanteren Teer- und Gumminoten. Insgesamt wirkt das Profil fast wie ein LTR- & HTR-Blend.
