Ultra great, delicious and super complex Angostura 🙂👍! Yummy. 9,2:On the nose, we are really attacked by this rum fresh and fruity aroma specter. Uauu. Super fruits, all types, from tropical, yellow, red, dried, citrus. From banana, mango, passion fruit, maracuja to yellow bourbon fruits with ripe peach, red as cherry, then dried with prunes. It is a bit smoky, metallic, some nail polish, with roasted palate, burnt sugar that is more intense after airing. We can find herbal, floral/perfume notes. It is spicy with vanilla, baking spices, some pastry touch is there. Airing brings out more roasted notes as caramelized roasted nuts, chocolate, becomes more woody which is toasted. Very round, balanced. At the end, more earthiness is found with peat, peanuts. 9,2:On the palate, it is delicious, syrupy with honey, oily, with lots of different fruits as banana, mango, maracuja, ripe pineapple, citrus, very ripe and juicy peaches and very spicy with warm spices. Quickly it becomes a bit dry and astringent with dried fruits as sultanas, the wood is toasted, there is minimal pepper bitterness. Some mint shows up. Roastedness is present with roasted nuts, burnt sugar. This rum is really full-bodied, complex, round and balanced. I love it as it is also a bit smoky and peaty. 9,1:The finish is long, round, elegant, warm, a bit dry and astringent with dried fruits, toasted oak and roasted with burnt sugar...! Sorry, but alcohol is nicely integrated... Edit:13.7.25, a top notch rum

Fine parallel tasting of RX20517 and RX21400 Both 2009s, both 13 years old, both around 63%. So they should be similar. Yes, that's true on the nose: both slightly minty, the TWJ a little smokier, the Roots a little woodier. But what a difference on the palate! The TWJ is really super nice, with perfect TDL DNA, beautifully balanced and minty. But the Roots is brute! Pure mint. Really challenges the tongue. It tingles. I like that very much! Conclusion: I feel a bit sorry for the very good TWJ, but the popping Roots is the clear winner of the evening.

Comparison with the T.D.L from Chorlton RX18983 and Roots RX20517. Roots: very intensely fruity. fruits of all kinds in the nose and on the palate, which appear increasingly candied on the palate. a typical T.D.L mint note plays around the whole. the finish is medium-long and unspectacular. a great T.D.L, which is looking for its equal in palatability. - 87 points. chorlton: also a typusch fruity 2009 T.D.L. proful, a bit dirtier, frücjte are overripe, with more earthy and towards the finish also mineral flavors. -82 points. I really like the 2009 T.D.L! If the alcohol had been better integrated in both, they would have scored more points. I'm curious to see what else will come.

Great T.D.L Nose still very restrained... Alcohol somewhat very present. Strawberries, mint burnt sugar mango honey. On the palate come light sweetness immediately come strawberries peach mango mint some clove and pepper . Unfortunately, the alcohol is not optimally integrated here either ... I think it needs a lot of time in the glass.

2009 TDL, which is not quite there yet. Both nose and palate somewhat alcoholic. Otherwise mint, red fruits and tropical fruits. Quite nice, but I wouldn't need a bottle right now (but I'm not a TDL disciple either).

Unfortunately it doesn't really convince me right now. Sure, the mint is again the standout feature here, but we also have many (red) fruits like peach, cherry and mango, as well as a bit of nail polish.

Tasting date 16.08.2026 wonderfull sample gift from Mr. Michael Søndergaard. RX20517 Roots T.D.L 2009. Nose: Vanilla wood, loads of fruit, sweet nail polish with light dirty layers. Balanced smoke and a bit bacon, parfumes and floral notes, let’s not forget the Basset’s mixed gummy. Mouth: Wonderful oily texture. Pleasant worm with white pepper and vanilla spices. Faint mint, light nutty and nougat notes. Fine toasted notes, and so well balanced. Residual taste is light bitter. Sweet prunes, white pepper and spices, are well balanced and elegantly presented. Dried fruits and burnt sugar. Dry caramel leaves a pleasant and pleasurable finish. The glass: Lovely minty with young oak. Tasting “In the cave”

Nice TDL 2009, the typical markers like mint and nice fruitiness are all present. Still, compared to the FRC TDL Bottleshop, it doesn't seem quite finished to me, it doesn't have the same oily, heavy richness. In my opinion, worth taking along, but for me not quite top TDL 2009.

As not such a big T.D.L follower, this bottling is for me somewhat solid and not so bad, but somehow compared to some others it is on the one hand a bit restrained and on the other hand a bit too alcoholic for my taste.

A good TDL 2009 with the typical mint notes and chocolate/fruit aromas. Spices, easy to drink, alcohol is a little present, could be better. But definitely a good drop that you can drink more often.

A very nice TDL from 2009, with a good smoky nose and lots of toasted wood. Also beautiful red fruits and mint. Intense and warm on the palate. Lots of wood with beautiful fruit and surprising sweetness. Not as dirty and fruity as the 2003s. But can definitely hold its own. I like it very much. Alcohol is present but not disturbing. Brings nice warmth.

A TDL 2009 with a profile reminiscent of the early 2000s Millésimes with a fresh, mentholated and earthy side that shows on the nose. Red fruits (cherry) and peach follow before being caught up by woody, peppery, smoky and roasted aromas. Caramel can be distinguished in the background, then mango brings a touch of exoticism. A gourmand and balanced profile. The palate profile resembles a big fruity candy full of sweetness. We find the exoticism of pineapple, mango and peach, the freshness of menthol but also this sweetness on caramel, candied fruits and burnt sugar, which are accentuated by the spicy wood. The profile is gourmand and generous, but lacks a bit of depth and nuances in the aromatic layers. The profile is very smooth and very well integrated in terms of alcohol. The finish is long, oscillating between menthol, warmth and bitterness, all accompanied by a tropical fruity and burnt sugar background that rounds the edges. A generous and comforting profile, a bit direct and simple but very effective.

Bittersweet Symphony .... More bitter than sweet, with a slightly alcoholic aftertaste. Nice nutty and roasted aromas, some menthol. Quite a decent TDL for in between. Alcohol is well integrated. But it definitely needs 15-20 minutes in the glass.

Weeral een geweldige botteling van The Roots! Zeer lekker fruitig TDL profiel, de typische munt is aanwezig en daar hou ik van. Alcohol zeer goed geïntegreerd. Enige nadeel: ik wou dat de finish langer bleef duren. Ben benieuwd hoe hij de komende weken/maanden nog gaat evolueren nu de fles geopend is. Prijs/kwaliteit top en zeker een aanrader! Joren, doe zo voort! Another great botteling from The Roots. Very nice fruity TDL profile, the typical mint note is present and I like that a lot. Alcohol very well integrated. Only downside: I wish the finish lasted longer. I'm curious to see how it will evolve in the coming weeks/months now the bottle has been opened. Price/quality is great and definitely recommended! Time again for a little tasting. 😊 As a fan of the 2001 vintage, I find the 09 really fruity on the nose, very complex, multifaceted. Behind the fruitiness hides light wood and fine mint. The first sip is intense, the alcohol doesn't hide. Not much fruit left here, instead a full load of wood, smoke, and bitterness. Good drop, but not quite my thing. Let's see how his brother from TWJ comes along.

This is a very nice, fruity 2009 T.D.L, which, except for the dirty undertones of the legendary vintages, is packed with all the aromas I like from this distillery. Especially the delicious peach-mint-black tea combination on the palate combined with the caramel texture gives me a lot of pleasure here.

Gentle aroma of mint, coconut, red fruit and vanilla. Pleasantly sweet taste, lightly minty and fruity. Finish distinctly minty, menthol, fruit, vanilla. Very balanced piece, well integrated alcohol, long finish.
