Opinions land all over the place here. Almost everyone gets the signature TDL menthol and a wave of peaches, mango and passion fruit over roasted, caramel-edged oak. But several long-time fans feel the 22 years left it "too long in the cask" — the freshness gets buried under wood and a bitter edge late on. Lovely on the nose, more divisive on the palate.

The mint is there, but not as pronounced as I'm used to with the 2002 vintage. The long aging is doing its work. Taste a bit like the 1999. Excellent piece

Typischer 2002er TDL mit den prägnanten Menthol—Noten, allerdings sind diese nicht ganz so dominant.

Nose starts of nicely, delivering the expected: menthol, yellow fruits and peaches as well as some wood. Nice. Similar picture on the palate: nice start with the notes from the nose. While mintiness/ freshness is less present than in other bottlings, it is definitely there. After a nice start, this one turns quite noticeably, however. Basically all freshness and notes are gone and overwhelmed by wood. Yet not in a pleasant way tbh. While I‘m fan of longer aged bottlings, here the rum feels past its prime. Side-by-side with the previous (2 year younger) RdL, this one is the loser by quite a margin. Its not entirely bad - straight on the „good“ / „very good“ edge - but just a bit disappointing as the first bottling (and a lot other 2002s) is better.

Rom Deluxe bringt viele leckere Abfüllungen mit genauso schönem Design raus. Die Verfügbarkeit ist entsprechend mau. Das Profil von 2002er Jahrgang scheint einfach nicht meins zu sein, schon der teils beliebte FRC hat mich nicht vollends überzeugen können. Kann das nicht wirklich identifizieren, aber irgendwas an diesem, eigentlich guten Rum, mag ich überhaupt nicht. danke @Zabo!

Edit Mit viel Gnade ein wenig nach oben korrigiert. Mehr ist nicht drin. Zu holzig. Die Erwartungen in diese Abfüllungen und der Hype danach waren/sind groß. Unverkennbar ist diese Abfüllung mit den typischen Markern des Jahrgangs ausgestattet. Leider kann diese aber bei weitem nicht mit der vorherigen Romdeluxe Trinidad Abfüllung mithalten. Für mich ist dieser Rum viel zu lange im Fass geblieben und überlagert. Ich habe auch eine Bitterkeit geschmeckt, die mir absolut zu viel ist. Dafür ist aber wenigstens der Alkohol gut integriert.
