With a medium finish this is a lightly sweet rum with nice fruits and spices. There is a fudge/caramel note in there as well with a tad of smoke. The finish is lightly dry with spices, caramel and tea. Lovely rum.

Blind tasting: are there brandies that are distilled from raisins? That's roughly how I imagine the smell. I smell a basket of raisins here. Then there's tar, leather, tobacco, fresh sugar cane and dark chocolate - all very tart, herbal and also a little dirty. The palate is just as herbal and tart, with oak, lots of spices and a slight spiciness - but not an alcoholic spiciness, more like the spiciness of pepper. The finish is medium-long, dry, spicy and slightly bitter. This is probably a Bellevue rum from Guadeloupe from 1998, probably 51-53%. A rum that I quite like, but unfortunately - if it is a Bellevue - is only an average 98 Bellevue. 80 points
