"Komischer Rum, aber lecker," one member sums it up — an 18-year Barbados rum finished in Japanese Mizunara oak, then sweetened. The nose stays light and spring-like: green apple, pear, coconut, fresh wood and a little ginger. The palate turns rounder and noticeably sweet, with vanilla and caramel over the apple. This Barbados rum with a Mizunara finish is the best of the new Wagemut line. Very round and balanced and a fine taste with subtle fruitiness, spice and young wood. The alcohol is perfectly integrated.

Das Projekt Fasssprache vom Nikolas fand ich echt sehr interessant und sehr gut. Mal sehen, was er aus der Nachnutzung einzelner Fässer so macht. Das Interessante an dieser Abfüllung ist sicherlich das Mizunara-Fass, wobei ich durch den üblichen Barbados-Rum und die sehr geringen % keine großen Erwartungen habe. Nase: wirkt trotz des geringen Abv zu Beginn alkoholisch und metallisch. Jetzt kommen aber feine fruchtige Aromen durch; grüner Apfel, leicht Birne und etwas Limette. Hinzu kommt eine leichte Würzigkeit, ohne etwas genaueres auszumachen. Im Hintergrund ist dazu eine leichte Süße von Zitronat und Karamell sowie Vanille zu finden, die mit der Zeit mehr und mehr zusammen mit einer schokoladigen Textur in den Vordergrund kommt. Insgesamt aber relativ zurückhaltend. 7,0 Gaumen: oha, da ist aber eine Menge Dosage hineingeraten, sehr süß, Zuckersirup oder Ahornsirup, überlagert alles. Dahinter nur noch Vanille und Karamell. Im Abgang kommt noch etwas grüner Apfel hinzu. Da steht Mizunara drauf, ist aber gefühlt mit Zucker drin. Dafür viel zu teuer. Wird aber sicherlich seine Süßrum-Freunde finden. 4,8

Komischer Rum, aber lecker. Bis 18 Jahre alter Barbados Rum im teuersten Eichenfass aus Japan (Mizunara) nachgereift. Ja, er ist gezuckert (bin ich eigentlich kein Fan von), aber verdammt nochmal ich könnte die Flaschen in einem Rutsch austrinken. Soll angeblich passend zu einer Colorado Zigarre kreiert sein? Da die Linie nun eingestellt ist gibt es nur noch Restbestände für 99,- statt bisher 120,- EUR. Die Nase wird weniger geschmeichelt, der Gaumen dafür umso mehr. Fazit: Ich kaufe noch ein paar Flaschen :-).

Hanse Spirit Hamburg Februar 2026. Weiter geht es am Wagemut Stand. Der Colorado fehlte noch. Süßliche Nase, vor allem Karamell und Kokosnuss, am Gaumen dann nicht mehr so süß, sondern eher Barbados-fruchtig.

Für mich etwas neues. Leicht und spritzig, es riecht nach Frühling, nach Äpfel und Birnen, nach frischem Holz und etwas Ingwer. Und das ganz alleine vom japanischen Mizunara Fass. Im Mund zuerst der Apfel, dann Birne und Ingwer. Zuletzt Vanille und Kokosnuss vom Barbados Rum. Einfach lecker.

Am Gaumen merkt man schon durch die zähflüssige Konsistenz einen wahrscheinlich hohen Zuckeranteil. Insgesamt sehr rund, angenehm, sehr süß, etwas wenig Geschmack, etwas bitteres Holz, Walnuss und Alkohol, kurzer Abgang. Zur Zigarre sicher passend.

Guter Rum zur Zigarre, in der Nase fruchtig und etwas nussig, im Mund rund und weich, Apfel und etwas Nuss setzen sich fort. Die Süße ist gut eingebettet und nicht zu aufdringlich. Mittlerer Abgang in dem sich die Würze gut ausbreitet.

Ich hatte mir zwecks mizunara cask finish Recht hohe Erwartungen Gesetzt, bin aber durch den hohen Zuckergehalt leider enttäuscht worden. Ich verstehe beim besten Willen nicht warum man 18y alten Foursquare rum in einem mizunara Fass finisht und dann Vanilleschoten zusetzt und Zucker zusetzt. Das mizunara Fass zum ist noch dezent erkennbar mit den für mich typischen Noten von Ingwer, Pfeffer, grünem Apfel und minimal Floralen Noten, wird aber von der Vanille und der ganzen süße gänzlich überdeckt. Sehr schade. Hätte ein tolles Experiment werden können. Insbesondere für 120€ erwarte ich mehr...
