A very good HLCF... still quite impetuous and powerful. But it has all the classic markers of this brand and is really enjoyable. The only flaw, if there is one, is the relatively short finish

A 4 year old single cask Hampden HLCF from LMDW. The rum was allowed to breathe for half an hour. The nose is already well balanced and round, with tropical fruits, especially pineapple and some passion fruit. Also incredibly round and balanced on the palate, seems older than 4 years to me. A potpourri of tropical fruits, pineapple with candied ginger. Solvent aromas only on the fringes. The alcohol is well integrated, I'm not even tempted to play with a little water here. Metallic youth can only be guessed at. Only in the finish do you notice that it lacks a little substance due to its young age, but it doesn't disappear immediately, but rather fades out a little with pineapple and a very slight saltiness, somewhat astringent. Limited edition and young hype bottling or not, for me this is a first-class HLCF and I'm glad I was able to get a bottle for myself.

Good, young HLCF, as there have been a few from Hampden in recent times. But he doesn't particularly stand out either.

It's always nice when you get such limited bottles/samples through the RumX group members... Which unfortunately are most of the times completely bought up by the flippers… It‘s a very good, young and powerfull HLCF. The 64% are very well integrated

#6985 02.07.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after a checkup at the doctor. Listening to some EDM for a change on Spotify. Very nice rum with an OK price tag in my mind. Intense and fruity profile with spices, marzipan, herbs, ester, light smoek and light roasted wood.

8,7:On the nose, the first impression is typical, lot's of esters, glue, overripe, fermented tropical fruits like pineapple, banana, maracuja and vegetal molasses with an olive, hay.The wood is roasted with burnt sugar, marzipan, honey. On aeration, there is some anise, ginger, vanilla, the fruits are dried, citrusy with lemon peel.Some pleasant confectionery notes arise with smoky touch. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is tasty with fermented, overripe tropical fruits, vegetal molasses with hay, olive, the wood is roasted with smoke, nuts, spicy with vanilla, ginger.We might think of tasting the prunes marmelade...When well rested, creamy marzipan rounds up our tasting.The molasses becomes a bit flowery, later a bit dark with licorice touch.Some bread notes might appear...Very complex and tasty. 8,6:The finish is long with overripe tropical fruits, the wood is roasted, quite smoky, leather is present, a bit spicy and a bit bitter with some notes of plastic, the molasses is still vegetal.

Gentle nose. Not too intense, but pineapple and ester are still easily detectable. Behind the ester pineapple curtain, there is also a delicate sweetness on the palate. The taste is much gentler than the finish suggests. The finish is much harder. Truly remarkable.

Good tropical matured 4 year old HLCF. Very nice tropical fruit notes. Alcohol is well integrated. Only the finish can't quite keep up. It is rather short. There are also slight bitter notes. Nevertheless, I liked this bottling.

HLCF with power! On the nose, classic Hampden, tropical fruits, especially pineapple, marzipan, as you know it. On the palate, at first everything is Hampden-like, until suddenly a vegetal, slightly spicy note appears. Maybe some ginger, definitely very unusual, but I like it, something different again! Alcohol is still very dominant unfortunately, but for a 4-year-old cask strength still okay. Nice cask selection by the master at LMDW!

Maybe some ginger, definitely very unusual but I like it, something different again! Alcohol is unfortunately still very dominant, but for a 4-year-old cask strength rum still okay.

Great fruity nose, typical Hampden but less varnish than the high ester marks. Slightly bacon-like, smoky. On the palate somewhat sharp, alcoholic. Lots of fruit but nothing extraordinary. Conclusion: quite nice for the asking price, but not worth the secondary market prices for me.

Typical HLCF profile with the typical esters, yellow fruits and pineapple. Alcohol could be better integrated, here Hampden cannot hide its comparatively young age. At the end a subtle bitterness that gives the whole an interesting touch. Overall a good, not particularly complex Hampden. If you like the profile, you can’t go wrong here, but you don’t have to chase this bottling.

I was rather dubious about this one. HLCF classic is maybe the world Hampden I tried so far. This one is the same Age, different vintage. It retains some of the defects of the core range release, some smoke on the nose and bitterness on the palate. On the other hand, the usual amount of esters, overripe ananas and tropicale fruit. Without the defects, my score would be even higher

Wonderful Hampden. Only 4 years old and already so nicely matured. Sure, the ester or the drucht dominates, but what else do you expect :-) Some totally delicious aroma dominates the finish... I unfortunately can't name it. Alcohol is very well integrated.
