Overripe banana, glue and varnish hit the nose right away, then the palate goes hard on esters, tropical fruit and a fermented tang, with a dry, slightly bitter mid-palate. Classic young Hampden HGML: intense, wild, and honestly a bit one-note. Most agree it's very good but lacks the complexity a few more years in cask would bring. The 58.8% is well tucked in.

8,7:On the nose, the first impression we get are esters with fermented, overripe tropical fruits like banana, pineapple, kiwi, some citrus and some varnish, accompanied with floral and vegetal notes as olive. All nicely melted into a juicy marmelade with plums. Some spice and roastedness could be noticed after aeration. Perhaps some grass, a little of wood, mustiness, milk chocolate, menthol and marzipan after a nice rest. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is very fruity and vegetal. There are tons of esters. Our tasting buds are attacked with the same spectre as on the nose... As an addition, the rum is dry, salty, a bit mineral and when we count in also some menthol, olive, and of course molasses, a bit bitter... After a while, it becomes syrupy with some maple and caramelized. We certainly cannot miss vanilla, coconut and toasted wood, smoke well after our first sip...and a juicy strawberry🙂. 8,6:The finish is long and full of fermented tropical fruits, woody, dry and a bit astringent, vegetal and spicy, musty&mineral, with molasses and juicy strawberry...and very obvious cigar note in the end.

Это резко и непривлекательно на первый взгляд. Фруктов очень мало, больше фанковой химии, при чем ее даже больше чем в невыдержанной DOK версии от HD. Чайная ложка воды на 50ml несколько отодвигает фанк, но все равно он «градообразующий». Со временем появляется много имбиря, тропических эссенций, ванильной сладости. Оливки и мескальный дым отсутствуют, ну или хорошо спрятаны. Вкус сладкий. Здесь разнообразные тропики, мелисса, лемонграсс, кисло-сладкий манго и вяленый банан. Алкоголь хорошо интегрирован, ну или на это повлияла добавленная вода!? Послевкусие средней продолжительности. Есть некая тропическая фенольность и яркий лемонграсс. Это однозначно вкусно и питко, но не вау. Молодость в отличии от алкоголя спрятать не получилось, но здесь всего пять лет отроду. Я даже не знаю как можно сделать молодой спирт - старым, ну или создать впечатления!? Никак! Релиз имеет право на жизнь, но я не думаю, что ботлеру надо тратить энергию на подобные релизы. Кризис жанра или жажда денег!?

Funky Punch mitten auf die Zunge. Bereits die Nase nimmt kräftige Esternoten auf, leichte süsse. Aber der Geschamck ist intensiv schön. Kräftiger Hampden nicht zu komplex aber durchsus mit feinen zwischennozen (floral? Marzipan?), aber auf jeden intensiv mit einem gut eingebundenen Alkohol!

Young, wild HGML very fruity and fresh with plenty of ester glue 😀. Alcohol rather moderately integrated. After a good 30min it becomes more and more accessible. In May Tai very solid 3/5 . Price performance is decent here considering the times.

Classis Hampden profile from start to end 🤗🤤 a lot of funk, esters, pineapple, overriped fruits, with a cool Kiwi note. The alcohol is well integrated. The barrel notes remain the most of the time in the background and give it a nice roundness.

Top HGML, Top PLV. So möchte man Hampdens haben. Kräftiger, junger Jamaikaner, der sofort die volle Power aufs Parkett bringt. Versteckt sich nicht, recht eindimensional. Hampden Liebhaber werden ihn toll finden, Andere eher nicht so.

An der Nase Ester, Klebstoff, Vergorenes, Lack, Ananas, Olive, Vanille, florale Anklänge. Erinnert etwas an junge 2007er HDs. Am Gaumen intensiv, etwas jung und wild noch, mit einem leicht floralen touch, wenig Frucht.

Very nice rum basically, but unfortunately I think it's still a bit too young and wild in my opinion. I think a few years in the barrel would have done it good. But highly recommended as a mixer.
