Grapes, dried fruit and buttered caramel greet you first — this Reunion agricole spent enough time in cognac cask that several tasters read it as an eau-de-vie before rum. The palate turns drier and earthy: sugarcane, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, clove and pepper, with the 58.6% "well integrated," as one Frenchman put it. Long, spiced, faintly sweet close.

Parallel tasting RX19571 and RX20906 Neither is much different and neither is outstanding. In my opinion, they don't come close to the classic from Velier (RX10631). If I had to choose, Le Gus't would have the edge because the alcohol is better integrated than in the Swell and it also tastes a little more like wood and cognac, which I'm always up for.

Moved outside the usual range once again. A good experience, but again not my absolute favorite profile. To be able to draw comparisons here, I lack the range of the Isautiers a little. But really not bad

7,9:On the nose, the first impression we get is quite dull, as it is a bit rigid.We find a lot of vegetal, woody notes, but almost none fruity. There are mushrooms, tobacco, flowery notes, some perfume, the wood is roasted and toasted, nutty, spicy with clove. On aeration, there is a touch of grapes, perhaps cognac like dried fruits. It becomes dark with roasted hazelnut, black tea, honey and caramel. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is vegetal and woody, the sugarcane is flowing underneath, mineral.The wood is charred with caramel, roasted nuts, chocolate, butterscotch, later with coffee and licorice. There are yellow and dried fruits with honey and malty, black tea notes.Pleasant, round now. 8,3:The finish is is pretty long, the sugarcane more open, mineral, sweet, glazed with honey, caramel, there is some tea.The wood is spicy, dry and toasted with chocolate, pepper and earthy notes.Dried fruits remind us of cognac like end. Edit:12.1.25, upgrade, it really needs resting...from 8,2 to 8,7, it became delicious

I quite like this Isautier; at the nose it’s still quite restrained, but on the palate it develops a nice sweetness, followed by pleasant spice, chocolate, and slight vegetal notes. The alcohol is well integrated and the rum spreads creamy and soft. On the finish, the vegetal notes, as well as nuts and chocolate, dominate. A wonderful sipper.

After the Velier Isautier 16, the expectations were already quite high...and I don't think the Le Gus't disappoints! The cognac cask is positively noticeable on the nose. The fresh, floral notes are nicely offset by fruit candy, grapes and malt. Super smooth on the palate (for an agricole), not to say quaffable. Tart and fresh on the finish.

A nose of undergrowth, mushrooms, vegetal, and with a cognac side. Fruits, but rather dry. A mix of nuts and dried fruits. The palate is quite explosive, spices and an agricole side then take over. The length is medium, with a cognac side and a sweetness right at the end. Another proof that the people at Le Gus’t know how to select casks and make beautiful reductions.

👃 Oh! Is it because I've been tasting quite a bit of grape brandies lately that I find a similar side to it? Dried fruits, floral and vegetal freshness that could also remind you of some light whiskies (Glenmorrangie?). Cooking spices, dried and candied fruits, light caramel. A nice nose. 😋 Ok, we are definitely on agricole but not like what we might be used to (Martinique, Guadeloupe). I taste more sugarcane on its vegetal, almost earthy side. Alcohol liveliness then dried fruits in eau de vie mode and candy citrus quickly give way to cooking spices, vanilla pods, soft caramel, roasted oilseeds, rather dark chocolate and coffee (bean). ⛳ Fineness, agricole, the Cognac side coming back on dried fruits, spices and delicate woodiness. Some sun-dried green tea leaves with a bit of sugarcane. 💡 Tasted several times with family. A good rum from Isautier even if it strays somewhat from the distillery's identity. A quite atypical selection worth highlighting.

Le Gus’t shows here its qualities in barrel selection. We have an Isautier with an aromatic and complete nose, ranging from winey and cognac notes (notably grape) to spices (chili, pepper, clove), hazelnuts, but also buttery caramel and brown sugar. The fresh, earthy and floral side reminds of the forest floor with autumn mushrooms. An evolving and complete nose. The palate is drier, marked by the cognac cask and dried grape. We find a rum more oriented towards agricole with sugarcane and vegetal flavors, but also a well-spiced tone. Coffee, chocolate and hazelnut bring a lot of indulgence here despite the dry tendency in the mouth. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is rather average, dry, on cognac, vegetal aromas and gourmand spices. We find a sweet and soft thread that completes the profile at the very end of tasting. A good quality rum from a distillery that is gradually establishing itself as a reference for Reunion rums.

Definitely, La Réunion is a superb rum terroir and Isautier is a worthy representative. Another superb rum. Very classy. Cognac, grape, caramel, clove, all with a nice fresh vegetal note. On the palate, the fruit fades in favor of caramelized and roasted notes. Superb length, on chocolate. A creamy side. Very very good.

The Isautier bottling from Le Gust is a bit sweeter and fruitier than I know from Isautier. The cognac cask seems to come through a bit more. In the finish then subtle agricole notes and some spices. Not a bad Isautier, but I found the Swell and Velier a bit better balanced.

On the nose, a quite marked armagnac side. Dried grape, wood, dried yellow fruits. The palate is livelier, still on these same markers, accompanied by cane juice, spices, and brown sugar. It strongly reminds me of the Reimonenq Cuvée Prestige, without the added sugar. Average finish on wood and dried fruits. It's good, but nothing crazy.
