#4751 22.06.2024 Nice tasting afternoon and evening with Hannes at the shop in Odense. Nose Light, fruity, faint roasted wood, peach, banana, faint mint, light nutts. Palate Warm, round, light wood, spice, faint mint, orange, light peach. Finish Medium to long, light wood, fruits, faint mint, light nutts.

Simply disappointing, compared to other TDL 2009. Overall is not undrinkable, just with a lot of nice tdl this is one I won't drink again. On the nose, this one is pretty much on the angostura side. The nose is driven by alcool (despite low abs) and cheap wood furniture mixed with glue. Delving deep into the glass, some eucalyptus is coming, but really really subtile. Drink side, again alcool is noticeable, beside that you can find some candy/caramel sweetness, in the background these is some sugar and mint candies (in Italy there was a candy exactly giving the same feeling).

I can't quite put my finger on what it is about this rum that bothers me. Is it the artificial sweetness? Or the unexpected absence of mint? The rum isn't bad, but it's not really good either. It just doesn't deliver for me, especially not as a TDL. Too bad.

Unspectacular nose that almost turns slightly unpleasant - flat aromatics with a strange note that reminds me of cardboard. The 2009 profile of TDLs with a strong minty influence that we have learned so far is missing here; it would be interesting to know which marques (or blends?) TDL uses in its portfolio. Here we have ended up with a thin distillate reminiscent of Spanish style instead of the powerful aroma bomb. The viscosity, which brings an oily density to the palate, is enjoyable and initially pleasing thanks to a sweet note reminiscent of vanilla syrup; after that, however, the taste becomes very thin, a little wood, subtle spices, hardly any adhesion in the finish - a shame. The alcohol is well integrated, but even this cannot compensate for the weaknesses in the aroma profile. Too bad.

Pleasant rum to drink, but without great surprise. I would say it is not a bold product with tasting peaks. It is very rounded with dominant roasted, dried fruits, honeyed, peach/apricot, and spices. I sense a bit of funk somewhere between the palate and finish where a menthol freshness passes.

I have to say that it has nothing in common with the T.D.Ls I've tried. The color alone is far too light. No heavy dark aromas, unfortunately nothing of mint either. Rather sweet fruits with honey and vanilla. Thanks for the sample

Alors c’est un peu déconcertant, car y a pas les marqueurs habituels , Ça manque de complexité, Et ça ressemblerait presque plus à un Barbade qu’un Trinidad… Ne cherchez pas la menthe car il n’y en a pas, mais c’est ce qui surprend le plus sur cette dégustation Sinon c’est plutôt rond et facile à boire, Pas de grande surprise, mais c’est pas mauvais non plus

Bei einem 2009er T.D.L hatte ich ein bißchen was anderes erwartet. Irgendwie ist er im Vergleich zu den anderen die ich bis jetzt so probiert hatte und mich recht entsinne, ein bißchen langweilig und dünn.

Was scared to open this bottle because of the bad reviews. But this was highly recommended so I needed to try this one. Overall not that bad, but it's a very light easy drinking rum. You need to poor a big glass to fully enjoy it. In a blind tasting you wouldn't pick this out as a T.D.L., I get the comparison with a Foursquare. Fruity, light, easy drinking, misses some punch, short finish. You get better rums for that price, but still enjoyable rum. With some water it does open up a bit more.

Compared to other TDL from 2009, quite underwhelming. Not much on the nose except sweetness and a slight alcoholic note. On the palate also rather Spanish, mainly cotton candy and distant yellow fruits. The finish is medium-length with cotton candy. Even with some water, really not special. For me so far the weakest bottling from 2009.

This is a bit disappointing. Overall weak, despite its lacking abv it’s a bit alcoholic and has a quite unpleasant nose. Lots of sweetness coming at you on the palate. This would be ok at 60 euros, but at 140 it feels like a bad joke…. My first from this bottler and instantly a bad impression. Lucky I only got a sample. The rest of this is going into the next tiramisu maybe this penetrant sweetness can shine there.

A discreet TDL with a good nose but not memorable on the palate. I don’t feel like recommending drinking it. The finish is also quite weak and with very little persistence. Not a great expression of Trinidad rum art.

16/07/2026: sample tasting @ home. 21/09/2026: retasting @ home. Is this a TDL?! Very boring, uninteresting, alcoholic nose and the palate isn't much better. Very disappointing, it's missing all the nice notes that I expect from a TDL. Not worth buying!

I wouldn't have recognized TDL blind. Strange sweetness and somehow unbalanced. Also tastes very artificial. Normally the 2009 vintage is at a high level, but this doesn't work for me at all here.

What a weird thing. Would have guessed a sweetened rum from Barbados blindfolded. The nose is super atypical but balanced. On the palate then super sweet again with a bit more mint on the finish. The finish gets drier over time though. Weird. Not really my thing...

Au nez et à l'aveugle, tu pars directement sur un (bon et sympathique) ron ! Pour moi, c'est indéniablement un Angostura et non un pur TDL comme on en croise depuis 3-4 années. Confirmation m'est donnée à la 1ère lichette : ça tire sur un bonbon style Werther's Original ! : Toffee, caramel, glace vanille, chocolat au lait. Un peu de fruits...À coques d'abord (noix, amande, noix de Cajou), un peu de mangue sur le noyau et un quartier d'orange, par la suite. À mesure que j'y reviens, un côté toasté se fait de plus en plus présent et le chocolat perçu en 1ère bouche se montre davantage noir qu'à ses débuts. Ce qui lui donne une certaine consistance En rétro-olfaction, un infime chouilla de menthol, un léger boisé et une feuille de tabac blond. La finale est moyenne mais agréable.

Different from the TDL we tried recently. Don't expect the fruit bomb, apricot, peach flavour, it's more cask driven. Also alcohol bites a bit for the proof. Not a bad rum by any means, just lack complexity.

Super sweet TDL without mint. Beautiful matte on the bottle at its price level. You can feel the alcohol, but very drinkable. I recommend it even to beginner rum lovers to discover new flavors. The mint from TDL is an unmistakable taste that you will never get tired of.
