8,6:On the nose, minty molasses, flowery and slightly dirty, industrial notes like rubber, bicycle tube, menthol, polish, oily, roasted wood notes like caramel, cocoa, coffee, roasted nuts, citrus fruits, grapes, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, tropical, dried fruits arise, the wood is toasted, spicy with confectionery, the molasses brings black tea, hay, some chemical hints join. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is fruity with tropical fruits like maracuja, passion fruit, citrus with mandarine and yellow, dried fruits, cognac barrel finish is obvious, oily with roasted wood notes like caramel, cream toffee, roasted nuts, spicy with vanilla, pepper, as the molasses is minty, medicinal notes like rubber, menthol are present, as some chemical...The rum is nicely balanced, yet still complex. 8,5:The finish is dry&tannic with typical Trinidadian markers, pairing cognac barrel finish. Excellent release Barge 166 from Plantation specially made for the “château” chateau de bonbonnet, which can only be bought there. It's a very pleasant minty Trinidad. For me, it could have a higher ABV, but Trinidads can show themselves nicely when diluted.
