Hampden 8 Marks Collection (1 year) C<>H
One year in a cask does more here than you'd expect from such a young Hampden. Esters and solvent still lead — overripe pineapple, citrus, red berries — but a little wood rounds the edges and pulls in vanilla, marzipan and a touch of chocolate. Several tasters call this C<>H mark one of the best in the aged series: high-ester punch that actually gained balance from the barrel.

Bestes Ergebnis aus der einjährigen Lagerung der Hampden 8 Mark-Reihe!Natürlich hoher Estergehalt (saure Früchte und rote Beeren, was charakteristisch für C<>H ist), aber es ist erstaunlich, was ein Jahr Lagerung ausmachen kann. Deutlich komplexer in seiner Zusammensetzung als seine Brüder. Wie immer Furfurale, Whisky-Lactone, nun aber auch mit größeren Anteilen weiterer Molekülsorten. Zum Beispiel Ellagsäure (Tannine, Bitterkeit), was eventuell die Assoziation mit Schokolade bewirkt.

A lovely, complex nose of candied fruit, red fruit, Ibiscus flower and vanilla. The attack on the palate is smooth, aromatic and complex, with well-integrated wood. The finish is long, elegant and a little bitter. A very fine rum, complex in aroma but lacking a little depth.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection 1 year, hier der vorletzte, der C Diamond H. Schon nah dran an der höchsten Esterstufe, deswegen natürlich Ester und auch noch Zitrusfrüchte in der Nase. Am Gaumen dann ebenfalls, kommt hier noch eine gewisse Fruchtigkeit hinzu.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection - Aged vs. Unaged: Auch hier hat die Lagerubg dem Rum gut getan. Fruchtig, Blumig und mit einem sehr angenehmen Abgang. Gleichauf mit dem gelagerten HGML, sehr gut trinkbar. Fazit: keiner der 16 Rums war ein Genuss und die Bewertung ist nur als relativ untereinander zu verstehen. Trotzdem sehr interessant alle Marks unter gleichen Bedingungen zu probieren und die verschiedenen Ausprägungen von Frucht, Klebstoff, Würze und Überraschenderweise oft Umami zu schmecken. Demnächst ein Set mit 3-5 Jahren im Fass?

Jetzt der vorletzte der acht Marks Reihe. Ester wird hier immer deutlicher und auch Früchte zu erkennen, wie rote Früchte und Zitrusfrüchte. Alles in allem ein gelungener Rum dieser Reihe und bisher einer der besten

Die Nase wieder etwas fruchtiger im Vergleich zu hgml. Komplexe tiefe. Ünerreife rote Früchte. Die beanspruchtem Sinne lassen nun aber mach. Der Geschmack nun aber äußerst estrig und komplex. Wahnsinn.

Überraschend schöne Aromatik sowohl an der Nase als auch am Gaumen nach roter Grütze (rote Beeren), etwas Kakao und Vanille, leichte Zitrusaromen sowohl Schale als auch säuerlicher Saft. Runde Sache aber auch hier holt mich der Stoff nicht vollends ab und ich finde die unaged Variante gelungener.
