Hampden 8 Marks Collection (1 year) HLCF
Sipped neat, this pours out fresh pineapple, fermented tropical fruit and a light nail-polish ester lift, with roasted oak and a faint smoke underneath. One year in the cask rounds it and pushes the fruit forward, though a few tasters find it slightly watery and thin on the finish. Members also had it work well in a mojito. Mid-range ester funk for the Hampden set.

Pour la première fois les deux versions de ce mark ont la même base aromatique. Du fermenté au nez avec de l’ananas et du végétal. La bouche est enfin belle avec enfin du bois bien intégré (mais toujours dominant). Un côté whisky/bourbon en fin de bouche. La finale est longue et élégante mais assez mince. Il semblerait que plus les esters sont hauts, plus une année sous bois se passe bien avec un bois bien intégré.

Das Mark HLCF besitzt einen mittleren Estergehalt, dafür aber mit die vielfältigste Esterpalette. Neben den Fruchtaromen gibt es deshalb auch buttrige Noten. Insgesamt ein gutes Ergebnis für eine junge Reifung im Fass. Auch hier dominiert von Furfuralen, Whisky-Lactone und Cresole, weshalb durchaus Röstiges/Rauch zu vernehmen ist.

Nummer Vier der Acht Marks Hampden Collection. Dieser Rum gefällt mir sehr gut. Auf der einen seite schön fruchtig mit Ananas und natürlich auch wieder kräftig Ester zu riechen und schmecken. Bisher der beste der Reihe

The nose is now much more pronounced in the direction of tropical fruit. Not fermented but definitely ripe. The taste is pleasantly round and smoky. The pineapple is dominant. A great rum. For me, it's currently on a par with the lrok.

Finally today, two more from the Hampden 8 Marks Collection 1 year. In this collection you can really taste how the ester content increases from bottle to bottle. The HLCF is already very good, still lacking something to the DOK, but still delicious.

An interesting one. Middle of the range water wise, great nose, inviting and more tropical. The mouth is juicy with pineapple and bourbon and then some tropical notes. Think it’s my favourite or close to of the Second batch

Schon besser... Butter Gebäck Noten, tropisches Obst, Marzipancreme und getoastetes Eichenfass an der Nase. Aromatisch überraschend rauchig, aber dennoch eine schöne Würzigkeit und sehr dick und ölig. Hätte mir nur etwas mehr Fruchtigkeit gewünscht.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection - Aged vs. Unaged: Ein Bisschen mehr Frucht und Vanille als der LROK aber insgesamt nicht wirklich viel besser. Auch hier schmeckte mir die ungelagerte Variante deutlich besser. Fazit: keiner der 16 Rums war ein Genuss und die Bewertung ist nur als relativ untereinander zu verstehen. Trotzdem sehr interessant alle Marks unter gleichen Bedingungen zu probieren und die verschiedenen Ausprägungen von Frucht, Klebstoff, Würze und Überraschenderweise oft Umami zu schmecken. Demnächst ein Set mit 3-5 Jahren im Fass?
