8,4:On the nose, some esters bump into our nose, overripe tropical fruits like pineapple, green fruits like an apple, varnish and roasted wood.A banana is unripe. When it settles down, a molasses is grassy, then it turns into a hay, there is some citrus, as roasted wood brings spices and pastry. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is pleasant with low esters, the fruits are tropical with unripe banana, later with yellow fruits, citrus.The molasses is covered with honey, sweet, vegetal with herbaceous touch. The roasted wood notes brings creamy notes like cream toffee, spicy vanilla, as the apple is now baked. 8,1:The finish is medium long, sweet with fermented tropical and yellow fruits, the molasses is earthy and herbaceous, some petrol note arises, the roasted, spicy wood begets us with burnt sugar, vanilla, later with crunchy bread.. Unfortunately anything but pleasant. The nose already smells of gasoline and burnt plastic and it doesn't get better on the palate. You really have to search meticulously for the fruitiness without success. For me unfortunately a harsh disappointment and even worse than the unaged version.

A soft nose with fresh pineapple. The wood is marked but not dominant. The mouth has a soft attack, the fruits come next, discreet but clearly present. The finish is rather short but it's a real finish compared to the OWH. Nevertheless, and like with the OWH, the wood is not integrated, as you can clearly feel in the empty glass. The aromas are thinner than for the unaged version.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection aged 1 year in ex-bourbon casks. This time the second lowest ester level of the LFCH. However, I don't like it as much as the OWH. It comes across as too medicinal. You can feel the alcohol very clearly.

Enjoying the last 4 of the 8 marks and they're slightly darker than the first 4 from yesterday. Listening to Psy Trance 2025 by Matata Records, pretty good playlist with lots of power 😊 Nose Medium intense, fresh, fruity, light citrus, faint honey, light herbal, light varnish, faint smoke, light nutts, light ester. Palate Medium intense, warm, fruity, light honey, light citrus, banana, light floral, medium spicy, light ester, light varnish. Finish Long, fruity, light wood, light ester, medium spicy, banana, light citrus, faint chocolate, light nutts. Empty glass Vanilla, chocolate, citrus, light floral, light herbs, light grass.

Big Hampden 8 Marks Collection Tasting LFCH 1 year: similar to OWH 1 year, but more intense flavor notes. Especially on the palate you find spice for the first time. Otherwise again undefinable tropical fruits and esters.

8 Marks Hampden unaged versus 1 year aged LFCH. In the unaged, the alcohol dominates with slight fruitiness and a slight off-flavor in the finish. The aged one is already noticeably rounder.

This isn't an extra rum but it's worth trying. The nose is light, not powerful, with distinct apple notes, citrus, and a bit of pineapple. The palate is the same, light apple-roasted wood flavor, a bit of oily texture. The finish is nice, bringing out all the notes: wood, apple, citrus.

The nose is a bit weaker than the owh. But still green fruits. Apples and pears, however, less dominant and distinct. The taste is quite lacquered. The drop also feels like it has more kick. Medicinal note.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection - Aged vs. Unaged: Compared to the unaged LFCH, this one gains a bit. On the nose nuttier and with more vanilla, palate also more pleasant, still not really good though.

➡️ OWH: nice surprise. Citrus, freshness and perfectly integrated alcohol. ➡️ LFCH: more discreet, flatter. The least convincing of the series. ➡️ LROK: things get serious. Pineapple, ripe fruits, acetone... Complex and already very Hampden. My favorite of the first half. ➡️ HLCF: arrival of varnish notes and the famous "funk." Interesting, but still a bit linear. 🚀 Second series: welcome to the stratosphere of esters ➡️ <>H: the heart of Hampden. Exotic fruits, banana, complexity and balance. The typical profile of the distillery. ➡️ HGML: the fruits recede, pastry and marzipan notes take over. ➡️ C<>H: no joke here. Nail polish remover, explosive acidity and impressive aromatic concentration. ➡️ DOK: the legend. An avalanche of fruits, pastries, funk and yet an amazing harmony. My absolute favorite of the evening. ❤️

Very different nose on this one. All green apple and soft green pepper. The mouth is heavy on the plastic side with petrol and again soft elements. The finish a bit more open with tropical fruit, some plastic and hint of young wood

Also one of the better versions with an initially complex bouquet on nose, palate and finish. Besides the fruit aromas (apple, citrus, pineapple) there is also honey, herbs, roasted notes and wood noticeable, which come from whisky lactones, cresols and furfurals. Quite expressive for a one-year-old rum.

Now the second Hampden of the eight Marks Collection. I like it a bit better than the first. You can clearly recognize tropical fruits like pineapple here. Tastes very fresh. Ester dominant again. Can be drunk well
