Green apple, pineapple and a streak of varnish over young, one-year Hampden — the LFCH mark, one of the lower ester rungs. Several tasters find it fresher and rounder than the unaged version, with baked apple, honey and roasted wood peeking through. Ebenfalls eine der besseren Ausführungen mit einem anfänglich komplexen Bouquet in Nase, Gaumen und Abgang. Neben den Fruchtaromen (Apfel, Zitrus, Ananas) ist auch Honig, Kräuter, Röstaromen und Holz bemerkbar, welche durch durch Whisky-Lactone, Cresole und Furfurale kommen.

Leider alles andere als angenehm. Die Nase riecht schon nach Benzin und verbranntem plastik und am Gaumen wird's nicht besser. Die Fruchtigkeit muss man echt akribisch suchen ohne Erfolg . Für mich leider eine herbe Enttäuschung und noch deutlich schlimmer wie die unaged Variante.

Jetzt der zweite Hampden der acht Marks Collection. Gefällt mir etwas besser als der erste. Man erkennt hier deutlich tropische Früchte wie zum Beispiel Ananas. Schmeckt sehr frisch. Ester auch wieder dominant. Kann man gut trinken

Hampden 8 Marks Collection aged 1 year in ex-bourbon casks. This time the second lowest ester level of the LFCH. However, I don't like it as much as the OWH. It comes across as too medicinal. You can feel the alcohol very clearly.

Die Nase etwas schwächer als der owh. Aber immernoch grüne früchte. Äpfel und Birnen jedoch weniger dominant und eindeutig. Der Geschmack doch stark am lack. Hat auch gefühlt mehr Dampf der Tropfen. Medizinische note.

Un nez doux avec de l’ananas frais. Le boisé est marqué mais pas dominant. La bouche a une attaque douce, les fruits viennent ensuite, discrets mais nettement présents. La finale est plutôt courte mais c’est une vraie finale comparée au OWH. Malgré tout, et comme pour le OWH le bois n’est pas intégré, comme on le sent bien dans le verre vide. Les arômes sont plus minces que pour la version non vieillie.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection - Aged vs. Unaged: Im Vergleich zum ungelagertem LFCH gewinnt der hier etwas hinzu. In der Nase nüssiger und mit mehr Vanille, Gaumen auch angenehmer, trotzdem immer noch nicht wirklich gut.

Very different nose on this one. All green apple and soft green pepper. The mouth is heavy on the plastic side with petrol and again soft elements. The finish a bit more open with tropical fruit, some plastic and hint of young wood
