Opinions land in the middle here: most tasters find it easy and pleasant but flat. Expect vanilla, caramel, raisin and a little chocolate, with a whiff of sherry-cask dried fruit on a nearly silent nose. Sweet and soft on the tongue, short finish. Tasted at the Williams & Humbert Tasting on 30.04.26 For me a typical mediocre mixer and nothing for pure enjoyment. The alcohol is not well integrated enough and also too little with the minimum of 37.5% There are definitely much better ones in this segment.

Very good for a beginner or non-expert. Very easy to drink, low proof and very linear and smooth. Nose almost non-existent. On the palate it's a honeyed, vanilla, chocolate, roasted ensemble without any complexity. Very short finish. It could almost be likened to a liqueur.

Dos Maderas gives us a very standard and accessible rum for the majority. The nose is extremely poor, containing some dry fruit scents due to aging in sherry casks, caramel, wood, and a bit of vanilla to round it off. It's bland and not worth lingering on. Next. The palate offers the most classic elements in this matter, namely wood, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, nuts, and raisins (conferred by the sherry). It's soft, very easy to approach (which is the intended goal) but it has no real flavor or complexity. A linear, flat profile where the alcohol doesn't stand out. The finish is short, discreet, and without much eloquence, like the rest of the profile. Maybe a bit creamier and spicier but it doesn't add much to the final product. A basic and mainstream rum, which is not very expensive and will interest those who want a change from the ultra-known sweets in the category.

Under the nose nicely balanced, vanilla, nut and (sour) cherry. On the palate tender and soft, chocolate, roasted aromas, wood and again cherry as well as raisin, but no single dominance, rather nicely round and balanced.

As much as I love 5+5 expression or the Selección, this one did not live up to the expectation and the experience was rather forgettable. Overall, I think this one is targeting the mixology audience. Drinking this one neat, is not providing any enjoyment at all. It is not bad per say but not good either.
