Very intense on the nose, the profile matches a young, tropically matured Hampden. On the palate, the youthful freshness is still somewhat stronger, although the ageing in ex-sweet wine barrels has already added a pleasant expression and heavy sweetness. A successful release.

Probably by far the strangest DOK I've drunk so far. The nose is exactly what you would expect, but the palate is totally wild. Unusually dry even if the viscosity of the PX sherry is recognizable, mineral, astringent, medically bitter and super furry in terms of mouthfeel. Unfortunately, I don't like it at all, the GRF bottling was much better.

8,4:On the nose, esters are inevitable, as glue, then overripe tropical fruits burst into the wide open, pairing dried fruits. As we could scent some red wine, perhaps sherry later on.There are bananas, pineapple, red fruits, plum, raisins....They are melted into the marmelade. The wood is roasted with burnt sugar, nuts, marzipan, caramelized. An aeration brings out herbaceous molasses with menthol, coffee and fresh lime. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is a bit wild, rough, edgy with medicinal notes, roasted wood, bitter molasses and spiciness, until overripe tropical, dried fruits round the rum and please our tasting buds with really tasty marmelade. It becomes dry and more vegetal with an olive, after we air it a bit.Sweet strawberries come in the game, some other red fruits, as we might think of a sherry or some sweet red wine teasing the buds. After resting, coconut and yeast residual might be tasted. So, after the first attack, it becomes balanced and leads to a very tasty and balanced finish... 8,5:The finish is long and tasty, the palate notes are in balance now, as some earthy cigar notes are evident after the sip is well gone... Edit:14.12.-resting, oxidation helps, I like it, no edges like before.

A rum tasted at the GRF in 2024, CoR masterclass. A dry nose with esters but also dry herbs and a sweetness that undoubtedly comes from the PX. The attack is soft on the palate, the esters are present but not too lively. The finish is a little short. A rather strange rum that's not bad but doesn't appeal to me either.

Of the three bottlings from Colours of Rum, this one is slightly ahead for me. The finish is borderline, but still within reason. The base material recedes a little into the background and lacks a little depth, but the alcohol is the best integrated of the three. Unfortunately not a unicorn either, but okay for the price.
