The 65% Version is more fruity and less woody as the 68,5% Release. Both are very nice but I have the 65% slightly ahead.

The rum shows an intense smoky note, which is a little too dominant for me and thus limits the overall impression. Other ratings are significantly higher, which shows that taste is highly subjective. In addition to the smoke, it also has spicy and earthy notes that contribute well to the complexity. It is certainly an exciting bottling for fans of strong, smoky profiles, but I personally prefer a little more balance and finesse. Nevertheless, an interesting drop that shows character.

#7092 25.07.2026 My good friend came over to pick up some bottles I sourced for him, so I decided to share some of my good samples as his wife was driving 😊 This is a very nice demerara and the price at release was extremely good. I have a note that I paid 139 Euro for this bottle. A super Demerara profile with nice roasted wood, smoke, licorice fruit, chocolate and some spices.

A beautiful Demerara rum in itself and a good representative of the 1974 vintage. Dried fruit, plum, wood, molasses, dark spices - to my detriment, however, flanked by an earthy, smoky note that some Silver Seals bring with them, which unfortunately doesn't appeal to me enough. Therefore, for me it remains "only" a very good rating, as the rum has no flaws apart from this note.
