Clairin closer to Sajous in fact has more perfumed notes and is probably the most delicate of all the clairins I have owned.Not surprisingly, the Casimir aged gave excellent results.On the finish there is a slight peatiness mixed with medicinal after a while.Way to go Velier!

Tasted this Clairin out in the Stockholm archipelago. It’s a pot still produced from cane juice. The nose is rather weak and fruity with scents of strawberry. At the palate it’s fruity, sweet, vegetal and spicy with flavors of strawberry, raspberry, mango, citrus, sugarcane, mint and salt. The finish is rather long and and dry.

Well, what can I say, this Clairin is a bit different too, you can recognize a lot of herbs here. Mint and citrus fruits are also not common in Clairin. But otherwise, it's quite vegetal and grassy.

Here is a rather divisive rum. Personally, I have a bit of trouble with this rum which I find too herbal. The fruitiness does not compensate enough for the general bitterness. The palate is very fresh, but its mentholated, cut grass and olive in brine side does not suit me.

Number 4 from the community tasting. Thanks RumTaTa!This one is again more on the Jamaican side than the French. Ester and overripe fruits are there, just like fresh herbs and some cucumber.The mouth is also super fruity: citrus and very ripe yellow fruits, green notes keep very much in the background, to then strike again in the finish, but drier and less fresh than in the nose.For me, the best of the aged Clairin from today's Community Tasting.

Cologne-Bonn Rum Tasting: luckily once again an outlier upwards. Besides mint on the palate, the strawberry aromas in the finish are extremely interesting, reminiscent of a Savanna. Alcohol well integrated.

25.04.2020 A nice evening out with colleagues and a local liquor shop presenting some nice bottles. Notes Transparent in colour. Nose Fresh, fruity, olive, light smoke, grass, citrus, light floral. Palate Fresh, warm, dried fruit, honey, light smoke, citrus. Finish Medium long, fruity, citrus, herbs, sugarcane.

Very nice Clairin and well-integrated alcohol. The nose is very floral, spicy and naturally fruity. Then come interesting notes of cheese, olives and violets. On the palate, besides the sweetness of sugarcane, it is again nicely spicy and fresh. Citrus fruits, salt and many herbal notes like herbs, mint and grass are present. Then mango and some leather. The medium-long finish offers herbal notes of olive, plant sap and mint. Over salt and light wood notes it goes to yogurt, roasted aromas and bacon. The floral side lingers a bit. This rum is really fun to drink and shows many interesting sides that do not come out so much in aged products. Thanks for the great sample 😃

A nice Clairin that brings full Agricole power. Grassy notes with sugarcane, plus salty notes with olive and a spicy finish. Very nice bottling, quite close to Sajous and stands out well from other representatives, some of which are very peculiar.

Gains again significantly in profile in the third round. Great complexity. The wild fermentation that makes up Clairins finds its expression. Mega tasty, I must also try times in nem cocktail. 🍸

This has a great and intense olive nose. Reminds me of New Yarmouth but without the solvents and glue. The palette is softer than the nose makes you expect. The olives are pretty much gone and there is a fruity and sweet side that comes out. Some mango and yellow fruit. Very tasty! Wins in my daiquiri comparison from the complete Triple Entente ensemble. First place.

Back to the wonderful world of Clairin. The nose is delightful, real tropical fruit, strawberry and sugar with a backbone of floor polish - what’s not to like, a softer Mhoba in a sense. The mouth is less tamed and no surprise given the unaged profile and ABV. Smooth and encompassing mouth feel, with olive, marzipan and white pepper as well as a salty edge. It runs a fine line between too much kerosene and more tropical flavours. Finish is long and rewarding, sweet butterscotch with chilli and some more spice. It’s a complex and intense unaged rum but the best of the Velier Clairin’s to my tastes

A heavenly nose with the sweet scents of banana milkshake, vanilla, mango and panettone. On the palate the Clairin is still nicely sweet and the above-mentioned aromas now come with a roastiness. Delicious cheese, raspberries and light olives are also present. I really like how it tastes right now. In the finish it becomes vegetal, but remains vanilla and turns medicinal in a positive sense. Unfortunately, the intense aromas do not last long.

Tasted among 5: Rocher, casimir, sajous, vaval & sonson, and the one I liked the least. Too acidic on the nose On the mouth very quick sugar cane that goes into a non acidic and light lemon, with light notes of spices(pepper and cloves) and green olives. The acid on the nose simply disappeared on the mouth. Medium finish a little bit medicinal/light lemon/green olives as on the mouth *Retaste: this time the nose was not too acidic
