A good value for money Caroni. The nose really jumped out at me, it was quite expressive. Wood, Petrol, and tar on the palate with fruits in the background. The sherry influence is quite discernible, there was a sweetness in the background. Not quite sure why you would do this but it hasnt ruined it in my opinion. Well worth a crack, don't get Caroni at this price very often nowadays.

8,8:On the nose, tar and rubber, fermented tropical fruits, creamy roasted wood notes like chocolate, nuts, confectionery and caramel, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, citrus fruits arise, berries, red and yellow fruits, baking spices, vanilla, cardboard, some tannins, as the rum becomes slightly pungent. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is balanced with industrial notes like tar and rubber, petrol, hints of menthol and sweet, creamy roasted wood notes like butterscotch, pastry, roasted nuts, spicy with vanilla, allspice, tropical, yellow and citrus fruits, as the molasses is slightly minty, dark with licorice. 8,7:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with industrial notes pairing fermented fruits and buttery, slightly smoky roasted wood notes, minty molasses with licorice. Leckerer Caroni... ich mag die 1997er einfach. Erst schön Fruchtig und ne schöne Süße ... mit der Zeit wird er dann immer Würziger und die Typischen Caroni Marker (Teer Leder und dieses Dreckige im Mund ) kommen voll durch... ohne jemals störend oder unausgewogen zu wirken .

Guter sehr dreckiger Caroni, bei welchem man etliche Minuten später noch das Gefühl hat eine frisch geteerte Straße abzulecken. In der Nase anfangs etwas enttäuschend, wird mit längerem Atmen aber besser wird. Alkohol sehr gut eingebunden und im Abgang lange zu spüren.
