Really exciting bottling! On the nose, the rum is very complex (spicy?) and unique, so tempting that you want to taste it immediately. The alcohol is already very well integrated here. On the palate, the rum can’t quite keep up with the impression from the nose; it seems a bit more one-dimensional and not quite as aromatic. But then the crazy finish: it doesn’t happen in the throat, but in the front part of the mouth! That’s not necessarily worse, but absolutely unique—I’ve really never experienced anything like it, wild! Conclusion: Because of the special finish, it seems like a living unicorn to me, you should definitely try it! Thanks to Thunderbird for the special experience. Update 2025-07-22: Today I have to downgrade quite a bit. For me, the rum has nothing to do with Réunion on the nose or palate. More like a column still from Panamá or Guatemala. Not bad, but also not particularly good. My Savanna expectations are definitely disappointed. Sorry, downgrading by 5 points.

This is one of those rums where the palette gives you something unexpected compared to the nose. Not necessarily a huge difference in flavours, but more in intensity. The nose suggests a mellow dram but it serves you a spicy one on the palette. At first that threw me off to find the flavours but they are there if you give it some time. That also helps for the alcohol since it drinks quite hot. Great sipper from Rasta Morris!

A multi-faceted bottling... At first, this Savanna needs some time to develop its green aromas. But even then they are not very intense. At first I had more of a vegetal side to the nose (olive). But then that changed rapidly... a heavy sweetness with accompanying yellow fruits spread out gently and decisively... The palate is oily and soft... the alcohol is still barely noticeable. There are brief flashes of yellow fruit, but these are quickly replaced by spices (salty licorice, allspice). The finish is still dominated by the spices and becomes slightly bitter. I like it and, in my opinion, it tends towards a GrandArome Edit: I tasted the rest again today and I have to say I really like it. It's round and simply delicious 😋, so I rate it a tenth higher

8,2:On the nose, the first impression we get is quite tamed and rigid with roasted wood notes, perhaps going towards charred notes with burnt sugar, caramel, smoke, there are an olive and a honey with some menthol, varnish and a faint of citrus, flowery notes. On aeration, the picture becomes clearer with yellow and tropical fruits like banana, toasted coconut and more evident sugarcane, a bit waxy, spicy...The alcohol is felt to a degree. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is tasty, creamy with tropical and dried fruits, later with citrus, as the wood is roasted, with caramel, honey, nuts and licorice, spicy with allpice.There is also some menthol.The sugarcane is flowing more underneath, is flowery, mineral.Alcohol is well integrated. 8,2:The finish is quite long, a bit inconsistent, dry and thick, spicy, bitter with roasted wood notes, menthol, toasted coconut, dried and citrus fruits, the sugarcane is weak and flowery. The nose is very fruity and sweet. The alcohol is perceptible, but not dominant. The chewing gum/gummy bear aromas are also subtly present here. On the palate, floral and fruity notes with caramel and spices. I really like it for its young age and for the price! 2nd tasting: Ice candy on the nose, some glue, mint, caramel, honey. A little rough on the palate and in the finish this time.

First impression on the nose: quite alcoholic and somehow floral. Bourbon notes and covered apple pie come with time. Sweet and spicy on the palate. I'm a bit ambivalent: not a typical Savanna profile, but not bad now either...

Strange rum that I can't categorize well. Alcohol is very well integrated. Lots of pear and apple on the palate. Overall not typical of a Savanna Creol, Traditional or even Grand Arome.

Aromatic green-yellow apple on the nose. On the palate again apple and some pear, slightly cinnamon-spicy, plus very light chewing gum aromas. Very round and alcohol well integrated. Medium-long finish, not overly complex. More aromatic on the nose than on the palate. For the price, it's really a very tasty wine and gets my recommendation to buy. But not a must-have for me and no 90 points.

Really wild and I didn't expect it at all. Roasted coconut chips, honey-candied pineapple, olive brine, and menthol candies come together here in an unusually harmonious way. Very tasty! Absolutely positively surprised!

This sample needs time to breathe....alcohol dominates. Later floral and fruity nuances, olive oil, aromatic pear and spicy baked apple appear. Unusual rum, there is some similarity with bourbon aged whiskey. The flavor is sweet, tropical, salty-olive, spicy. The lingering aftertaste has a lot of tannins, olives, salt and pepper and ripe yellow fruits. In an empty glass, lots of vinegar funk and sour olives.

Tasted at SITS’24 The nose is wonderfully and abundantly seasoned with herbs and spices. It’s inviting and fruity, yet foremost fresh and zingy with berry mix and citrus blend. There’s a lovely dessert-like sensation of lemon meringue and grapefruit semifreddo. In the mouth much more concentrated on deeper flavours such as barrel char, licorice, crème brûlée’s burnt top layer and doppio. Despite all bitter elements, it’s still quite creamy and floral. Lovely balance. The finish is similar to the mouth, but very abrupt. It’s thick and creamy, with more lemon meringue, caramelised sugars and licorice. I’m not entirely sure why there are so many insinuations that this is or could be a GA, even by Serge himself, while the bottler specifically communicated it’s not. Admittedly, it’s slightly atypical and challenging in its own way. Great value for money at release.

It's not bad, but it doesn't fully convince me. It needs some time in the glass to lose its initial beastliness and sharpness. After that, it becomes milder and unfolds its aroma, but that's not really my taste.

Nose: first one - flowers & olives. Then, bananas, mango, mandarin. Some toasted oak, coconut. And hint of butter & wax. Taste: Really fruity, sweet. Honey, creme brulee, sugarcane, dry apricots & sultanas. Peaches, pears, some wax & butter. Touch of cucumber & pumpkin. Aftertaste: long, dry, little bit spicy. Lot of tannins, oak. Some sweet notes of caramel, nougat, dry fruits & orange peels. Conclusion: it's not my favorite style of Savannah, but it is still tasty & interesting .

The Road Rummers Africa tasting Very nice rum! It's complex and develops into different flavours. I'm getting red fruits from this one and then they develop into tropical fruits. A lot of goodness for your money. Recommend this one.

03/01/2026: tasting at home. A difficult Savanna to score/review for me. Initially I wasn't a big fan of this bottle and kind of disappointed, but give it enough time in the glass and it improves. You get a lot of pear and apples notes which remind me of Beenleigh. Don't expect Grand Arôme profile, because this is way more easy and tame. Alcohol is integrated rather well.
