Reduced to 50%, this drinks fresh and grassy neat — sugarcane up front, floral and herbal notes, then a green, almost medicinal edge that some love and others find a touch much. The palate turns oily and thick, with mango, banana and a peppery bite. A few tasters caught faint Islay peat and glue; most just find it a lively young agricole. Does well in cola too.

Slightly yellow-tinged eye betraying a passage through charcoal. Very gourmand nose full of sugars. Maybe indeed a bit of honey. Straightforward palate on alcohol and ester, but tasted on an empty stomach and after 5 weeks of abstinence so palate certainly too sensitive, to be tasted another time.

Right from the opening, the Jamaican influence makes itself felt. Slightly exotic fruits, a fresh hint of lychee, and fairly green notes. After a long aeration, a hint of banana and a background of guava hide behind rather powerful vegetal and medicinal notes - a little too much perhaps, as the first nose was more charming. On the palate, agricultural notes dominate, the cane is there, ultra-rich. Very planty, floral notes mingle with a creamy mouthfeel, with banana & mango in the background (you have to go looking for it). The alcohol has a bit of a bite, and a little heat from the light spices (or pepper) settles on the front of the palate. Playing longer, light notes of grape and milk chocolate appear, with nutmeg perhaps? I really need to work on the spices, I'm out of practice. Medium finish, between cane, vegetal and medicinal notes, and green banana. As for the empty glass, it's downright medicinal.

#6469 11.03.2026 Relaxing with some samples and some nice Trance by Static Movement and Entima. The price tag on this one is also pretty good to be honest. It also does really well in a cola. A fresh and intense nose with nice nutts and vanilla. Fruits and caramel can also be found. The palate is oily and thick with fruits and grassy notes. There is a slight caramel note in there. The finish is long and has coconut and agricole notes to it with some herbs.

The nose needs time to open up. Not very expressive, it nevertheless reveals several things: cane first, a floral and herbaceous side, fruit. Glue or varnish perhaps. On the palate, the reduction is appreciable. Cane, grass and citrus. Not very pleasant bitterness. Very little sweetness. Astringent. Peppery. Biting alcohol. Not sure this is zn09's most successful test.

A nice surprise for this white rum slightly aged in a cask that previously held Islay whisky. The peat is well present and brings a lot of originality. I really like it!
