Most people land on the same read: a gentle, easy way into aged agricole, but a touch thin. You get fresh sugarcane, light oak, grassy and earthy notes, a little citrus and honeyed sweetness. Several tasters found it soft and "very good agricole" with the Trois Rivières signature, while others wished it weren't so diluted and watery. Short-ish finish, not much to unpack.

Most helpful positive review
Lively notes of wood and tobacco, an interesting finish with notes of corn and vegetables, a solid roundness despite its youth, making it a gem with more than excellent value for money, and it represents the distillery's refinement despite being so young. The high rating is due to the fact that years ago it was my initiation into agricole rums, so there's some affection. Objectively, I think it falls between 74-79.

The first impression immediately after filling the glass was wow some cool solvent notes paired with the typical agricole notes. Unfortunately, they disappear quickly. What remains is a thin, soft agricole! On the palate the thin(diluted) feeling conitues… The finish is quite short!

This VSOP from Trois Rivieres has spent over 5 years in French oak barrels and is in my opinion a very good start in the world of Agricole. The nose is fruity, spicy, nutty with some sweetness and aroma of cane juice. At the palate it’s soft, round, spicy, fruity and balanced with flavor of honey. The finish is long (for a VSOP), spicy and woody with flavor of honey.

Can't complain, a solid rum. The nose is mostly woody for me, then the sugarcane and agricole come to the fore. On the palate, sugarcane and agricole come through more than the wood. This rum has a vegetal note.

Creamy & round, nice sipper. Typical agricole grassiness paired with vanilla & light fruits. Slight bitterness at the end. For the young age & low ABV really tasty and a good introduction to the world of aged agricole.

02.10.2016 - 03.10.2016 A great extended weekend with rum friends. This was a nice event and lots of space between the tables. Only problem was the level of English at some of the exhibitors. Here are the rums we tasted at the event itself, nothing truly unique but we had fun. This is the second half of the tastings. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, light wood, sugarcane, citrus, light earthy, light Agricole notes. Palate Light, round, fresh, wood, sugarcane, light citrus, light smoke, light pineapple, medium dry. Finish Short to medium, wood, fruits, grass, medium dry, light smoke.

A Trois Rivières from the classic range, recognizable by the vegetal freshness of the sugar cane and the typical minerality. Some dried fruits and spices with a fairly young woodiness also stand out. On the palate, the attack is smooth. A dry, spicy, agricultural character is balanced by vegetal and floral notes. There's a slightly honeyed edge that makes it very approachable. On the finish, the spices (pepper, nutmeg) become more present, joined by notes of dried herbs (hay) and sugarcane. Light, dry and airy. An excellent introduction to the world of agriculture, with excellent value for money.

Nice and easy sipping, but not very complex. I like the notes ob herbs and grass, but wonder how they got the rum to be that soft and creamy. I am also surprised by its long aftertaste.

Compared to the Millesime, I like the VSOP a bit better. The Millesime is more complex on the nose, but overall the VSOP feels more harmonious.

VSOP not bad but clearly I didn't have a crush with this one. A bit too light and diluted compared to other more accomplished VSOPs like those from Dillon and HSE. The problem with most agricultural VSOPs is not that they are not aged enough but that they are too diluted and here is a perfect example. There is a reluctance in its taste, a side too watery. That said, it's not that bad, you also taste honey, cane sugar, all over a quite pleasant spice base. But well it remains a bit too diluted if I'm honest. Very easy to drink, a bottle made to please everyone. For Martinique lovers there are better to find, even for the 38€ including delivery that I paid.

A very vegetal nose with lots of sugarcane and dried fruit. The palate is very balanced and round. Lots of earthy and vegetal notes. It reminds me of being in the garden just after it's rained. Some soil elements. The finish is rather long and just as earthy as the palate with nice woody notes going through it and a touch of spice. A very nice rum. Something that would be great to sip with a good book or movie.

In my opinion, the Vsop Reserve Speciale is really a great Agricole blend. Has fruit and floral notes on the nose, with fine nuances of wood and a certain unusual sweetness found in the mouth. The balanced and cozy finish provides a great ending. For me, a really great entry into the world of Rhum Agricole. Brings everything in moderation that is expected from it and does not overwhelm.

Belle coloration. Au nez : prédominance de bois, côté agricole et canne à sucre. Je ressens également un côté terreux. En bouche : pas de surprise, on retrouve les mêmes codes qu'au nez. Bois, canne agricole. Finale moyenne-courte, pas assez long en bouche. Niveau rapport qualité-prix très bon en comparaison à d'autres gammes de trois rivières.

An aged expression from Martinique. On the nose I immediatly get oaky notes mixed with solvents and freshly cut grass. Albeit its somewhat muted compared to unaged agricoles. The taste and finish both are relativly simple yet pleasent. Its more elegant then the younger expressions from the distillery. Yet it also is a bit muted in terms or flavor and aroma.

Vune příjemná agricola, lehce sušené a lehce slabší vune...mozna uz vzorek cekal dlouho. Chut příjemná ovocna luční, sladké dřevo. Procenta nízké ale to paradoxně u agricol nevadí. Příjemná. I na začátek pití.
