This one is like an unfinished 23 release. Still fruity and sweet, but a bit out of balance compared to the oldest release.

I've had the Ophyum 12 at home for several years, no idea when and why I bought it, the bottle says it's from 2018. The bottle is quite nice but I prefer the round bottles with colorful labels, like Don Papa. The Ophyum is in the 40-50 euro range and I expect a good rum for that. And it is a good rum, smell and taste are not artificial and it has quite some complexity to offer. I like the smell, sweet and fruity, I smell vanilla and pear/apricot. The taste is also good, but there is more sweetness and less fruit than the smell suggested. The finish is rather weak, basically I only notice sweetness. I often have the problem with rums in rating whether I should only follow my taste or also consider quality. I would call the Ophyum 12 a good rum, not artificial and not over-sugared. The taste is good, I like sweet and fruity. But it doesn't blow me away or excite me, I miss a bit more fruit and maybe something special that surprises me, like a note of chocolate or something completely different, a spice or sharpness. For about 40-50 euros I had hoped for more. Definitely not a bad buy but also not a hit in my collection.

Farbe ist OK aber nicht sehr lebendig. Nase sehr zurückhaltend. Unspezifisch. Gaumen ist dann besser. Nicht zu süss, etwas Karamell, herber Honig. Der Abgang mittellang mit leichter Bitternote. Irgendwo in einer Bar ohne grosse Auswahl, wenn man unbedingt einen Rum will OK.
