Baked honeyed banana dusted with cinnamon, marzipan and a little candied ginger — that's the nose most tasters land on. On the palate it turns peppery and dry, spicy like fresh-ground cinnamon, with vanilla, milk chocolate and surprisingly light oak for 17 tropical years. The alcohol sits well integrated at 55%. A concentrated, spice-forward Clarendon that stays low on the usual Jamaican funk.

Super crazy and highly unusual Ester Mark here from Clarendon/Monymusk. Intense nose of baked honey banana dusted with cinnamon and some pastry, as well as candied ginger, tonka bean and bourbon cask. On the palate then peppery, spicy, slightly sharp like freshly ground cinnamon, again some banana and pastry, as well as milk chocolate, vanilla, tonka bean and black pepper. Light cask notes but relatively little for 17y aging. Overall very concentrated, spicy and intense and top integrated alcohol. A very exciting bottling where I am all the more curious what older bottlings here can offer.

I’m super pissed at all the people who rated this so high. It is a horribly disjointed rum, jarring wood, synthetic banana, and not at all pleasant. Thanks to disingenuous ratings for wasting my money. You all need to do much better.

#6408 28.02.2026 Tasting at the "Nordlichter Treffen 2026". This is a really good rum and when I heard the price tag I almost tipped over. Super value for money. To me this is a marzipan bomb, with lots of fruits and light well balanced wood and ABV. There is alwo a light polish and coconut touch to the profile.

First of all, thanks @Schnubbii for the sample. A really good Clarendon. This Mark didn't say anything to me at all. The alcohol is well integrated. The only downside, which in this case is not a big deal, is that it is quite peppery. In my opinion, this actually gives it a positive kick.

Northern Lights Meeting 21.08.2026: Great low ester rum that reminds me of Guyana with its wood and sweet fruit notes in the profile. I can understand the enthusiasm of Moritz and co., especially now that autumn is starting... Fits the season perfectly.

A new tropical one column still Monymusk ! If you like the Velier MBS 2010 9y 62%, this 17y tropical 55% MSR is better in my opinion. More red fruits, dry, tannin, astringent, liquorice & marzipan 💣 bomb.

This is only my second Monymusk label, though I may have tried a Clarendon as well. The initial smell is tangerine and caramel. Maybe some banana cream. Then when it comes into your mouth, it's more like hot pepper and flowers. Fun stuff, especially the wild difference between mouth and nose. Some cream. A decent dose of oak. Spicy leave like a Latina slap in the face. Tried at Pink Flamingo.

Low esters momymusk are more foursquare-y than Jamaican. This is consistent, with a lot of Bourbon influence, but also ripe fruit and chocolate. Overall a pleasant dram, unexpectedly balanced and well concentrated

Great low ester Clarendon, immediately present on nose and palate. Full aroma, at the same time super accessible, a great rum both for beginners and for nerds. Edit: Re-tasting and taste-wise for me it's more like an 8.7, but I stick to 8.8 because of the phenomenal price/enjoyment ratio.

Lots of banana on the nose. A bit of nail polish remover. Honey and wood. Very full in the mouth. Wood, fruit (banana, guava). Towards the end you feel more alcohol and more wood. And a chili kick.
