Another great one from R.L. Seale and Foursquare. The nose is woody and fruity with an aroma of vanilla. At the palate and during the medium long finish it’s round, woody, spicy and fruity with flavors of tropical fruits, vanilla and oak.

Foursquare makes high quality rum with flavor so mild it's easily overwhelmed by cask wood. The whole Doorly's line of rums suffers from too much wood at every age, which is really disappointing. I'm done with Doorly's. I won't rebuy.

This dram pleasantly surprised me. The 12 years of aging bring a nice balance of vanilla, caramel, and subtle wood notes without any one component dominating. I especially liked how smooth and rounded it feels on the palate – a harmonious, slightly sweet character with a warm, long finish with a light citrus note. It's solid, very approachable, and shows enough depth to satisfy both newcomers and experienced sippers. It makes you want more.

Very nice fruity foursquare! Very dry, lots of wood but still a relaxed, uncomplicated sipping rum at a fair price that is even better in cocktails like corn n oil, Bermuda yacht club & co. But the doorly 14 is definitely a good bit better imho.

Nice masterclass at the Trou à Rhum in Arras. Nose: coconut clearly Taste: sweet spices, licorice, a little cherry syrup amid caramel and light woods. Finish: sugar, choco, a few distant spices, but above all, it's very/too short. Comments: can you really still drink a Doorly's when you've got a Foursquare at home? no.

Solid and also good rum, but I actually prefer the 8-year-old. In comparison, I would also choose the Doorly's 8 because of the price. In between, there was a bitter note in the 12-year-old.

Hard to beat the value of this rum. A strong mix of vanilla, coconut, and caramel in a round profile without any added sweetness. This is a must have rum in your stock as the price point is still low enough to make a great cocktail, but it makes an excellent sipper.

I was having a big expectations which were not fulfilled. Don't get me wrong this is great rum but hearing about how awesome it is all the time, I was expecting more. Now, onto the nose- vanilla, lot's of wood; oak to be precise. Palate- Oily, round sweetness of vanilla and oak barrel with slight hint of banana at the end and a bit of spiciness. Finish is medium long. Really nice rum if you have a chance to buy it around 30€. I bought mine for 28 for which I consider it an excelent rum for such price. I will need to revisit the review and the rating in the future. Revisiting: this time I sense fruitiness overall underlined with sour taste of green apple. Pulling it down from 74 to 70. Definitely over-rated for me. Highlight is the mid-long finish.

Foursquare is a distillery from Barbados producing amazing rums for everyday sipping. It's a rum especially appreciated by rum lovers who are fed up with sugar and are looking for a gentle, sweet rum full of coconut, vanilla, chocolate, and caramel. Simply pleasant and not aggressive flavors.

This was my first step into the world of Barbados and Foursquare together with the 14 year old. Find this super as a starter. Drink this often and like times in between. Typical Foursquare, this one. I was surprised by the intensity in taste for 40%, not tasting watered down at all. The Rum is good oin the regard, that it has no obvious flaws, but is also not much exiting. Good value for money, and if one does not want to focus attention on the drink. I believe it's successor is possibly a little bit better.

This Doorly's 12-year rum has a clear vanilla dominance from nose to finish. On the nose, you are immediately on a round and soft rum. On the palate, a very pleasant hint of warmth carries us away. The medium to long finish is in the same vein. A must-have with excellent value for money.

Doorly's 12 year old rum comes from the Foursquare distillery in Barbados. A rum aged for 12 years, 90% in bourbon barrels, the rest in Madeira. Unflavored and unsweetened, it is dry and woody. It is pleasant and easy to drink without being exceptional.

Very nice entry level Foursquare for beginners. You get the classic flavour profile at a good price. If you like this, it might be worth buying something from the ECS series, as these releases offer a lot more. But don't overpay for crazy secondairy prices!

Nose: fruity, easy, sweet. Wood, caramel, coconut. Not great. (not my thing for now) Taste: in the end, it offers more than I expected from the nose. But still quite conventional. Always wood and coconut. Maybe a bit of toffee, coffee, buttery chocolate. Finish: burnt caramel and vanilla almost like flan, bringing a completely unnecessary bitterness. Wood. Not my favorite. Overall, it's not bad. Better than Doorlys XO? We'll have to compare. It's more expensive, more complex, more bitter at the end. It's not that it's bad but it's lacking fun. I understand why people like it, but for a similar price I prefer the fun of Rivière du Mât XO, it suits me better.

On the nose, initially rather restrained with light vanilla, an almost honey-like sweetness, subtle fruit notes, and well-integrated oak. On the palate, surprisingly mild and pleasantly soft. Ripe fruits, a subtle sweetness, and light cask notes define the taste. In the finish, the wood becomes noticeably more intense, accompanied by interesting leather and tobacco notes. Overall, a harmonious, rather straightforward rum with pleasant maturity that doesn’t stand out due to excessive sweetness.

Beautiful aroma, oak, gentle caramel, completely unsweetened but sweeter finish and spiciness, less stiff than worthy, something is a bit strange, not glue just at the beginning. Sweeter finish. Medium long. Aged, I increase. At the end normally sweet and spicy and after a while distinctly nutty, baked hazelnuts.

It has a classic Foursquare Barbadian nose, with toffee and brown sugar combined with chocolate notes. Sipped it is reasonably balanced in terms of alcohol but not as integrated as the ECS series. Some baking spice, vanilla, and oak on the mouth with a long and peppery finish ending in a nice light toffee. I would be happy to use this as a cocktail or mixing rum but as a sipper there are others I prefer even at the very reasonable price point

The smell is mostly dried fruit and alcohol, with some artificial Vanilla. A little off-putting. The taste is much better. Nice balance between dried dark fruits, vanilla, oak, spice, and some of the boozy molasses flavor. The alcohol and molasses lingers on the finish

My RumRatings review from 6 years ago: On the nose, Doorly's is somehow typically Barbados. Light and fresh, it has aromas of caramel, oak, and fruit. Alcohol is not noticeable. Everything is very balanced and very similar to Mount Gay. Cockspur, on the other hand, is heavier and has more spicy notes. On the palate, Doorly's is initially light and shows some fruit like banana and tropical fruit. Then comes vanilla, roasted aromas, and caramel. On the finish, the rum gets heavier with lots of spice like wood, pepper, and also some bitterness. The aftertaste is long enough and makes you want more. In comparison, Mount Gay XO is a bit more balanced and with the tobacco notes minimally more complex. But my bottle had also had time to breathe. Cockspur clearly falls short for me, as it is less balanced and more one-dimensional, with a lot of spice like pepper. Doorly's is still a bit edgier than Mount Gay XO and time will tell if it rounds out. Then, for about 40 euros, it’s an absolute price-performance monster. I’m pretty sure about that already. Overall, I’m very satisfied. Absolutely top and tasty. Barbados remains a mecca for good rums.

One of my go-to sippers and my first proper rum. Nose is heavy on brown sugar. Taste is fruity, good compliment to the sweetness. Mild, smooth finish with little to no burn. Great rum to keep stocked at a fantastic price.

A classic, Doorly’s 12 has a pleasant oaky nose with subtle notes of dried fruits and spices. The palate is similar, with moderate woody base notes complimented by caramel, dry fruits, and warm spices. The finish is smooth and warm, moderate in length.
