🌺 Marie-Louise ESB – 49% First appearance of this brand on the page, and what an entrance! The story begins in 2020 in the North Grande-Terre in Guadeloupe, on a family estate that had been dormant for three generations. Rodolphe Payen revives a deeply personal project here, in tribute to his grandmother Marie-Louise, the first owner of the place. Without distillation equipment, the canes are sent to Montebello for fermentation and distillation. From there comes this first ESB (Élevé Sous Bois): vintage 2022 14 months in new French oak barrels blend of Emma & Alizée barrels (300 L) 🍫 On the tasting A rum surprisingly mature for its young age: nose and palate with pastry, chocolate and toasted notes a nice indulgence without heaviness long finish marked by coffee really very well balanced for a first release Honestly: a very nice surprise, clean, neat and already complex.
