Won a sample set of the 4 new Sea Shepherd from Kirsch. THANK YOU 🙏. Here is the 5 year continental matured LROK rum from an Oloroso cask... Nose: intense blend of esters and sherry. Sweet and sour passion fruit, pineapple and banana with yellow lemon and sulphurized apricot. Goes out the back towards pencil shavings. Ester and sherry go well together, even if I'm not so keen on sweet-sherry finishes. 8,2 Palate: nice and intense, a successful blend of esters with glue and tropical fruits like passion fruit and pineapple. Lemon and gooseberry are also present. The sherry cask clearly brings strong sweet and sulphurous aromas. Has a slightly bacony effect. Not bad at all for what it is (young and Oloroso). 8.0

Trade fair review Village'25 Nuremberg Basically a solid bottling from FRC at a fair price. Unfortunately, it was a little too sharp and alcoholic on the palate. No idea if it needed more air, maybe then there would have been more to it.

8,4:On the nose, tons of esters and overripe, even rotten, pungent tropical fruits like pineapple, banana and vegetal olive bump into our nosetrils, slightly sulphurous. On aeration, the wood is roasted with coffee, pastry, fruitcake, caramelized burnt sugar, chocolate, cocoa, nuts, slightly smoky and spicy with bakingspices, salty.Some citrus and dried fruits arise(sherry finish), herbaceous molasses and metallic patina. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is intense with esters, glue, very fruity with tropical fruits like pineapple, some citrus, red fruits, vegetal notes like olive, roasted wood notes like caramel, salted confectionery, later fruitcake and cookie dough, spicy and slightly smoky.On oxidation, the wood is burnt, new fruits notes arise like maracuja and bitter orange, fresh tea. 8,3:The finish is long, dry, furry, there are tons of esters and overripe tropical fruits, red and dried fruits, gooseberries, slightly smoky, spicy roasted wood and a lot of confectionery, as the molasses is sweet with honey, grassy with hay, some pencil shavings appear after. Bottle Market Bremen October 2024. Wow, what a Jamaican. Immediately recognizable on the nose thanks to the ester and fruitiness. On the palate, there's also plenty of ester and tropical fruit. A real plank.

#5847 11.10.2025 Visiting the Whisky Live Hamburg 2025 event. It was the first of its kind and went off pretty well. They still have to learn a lot about running an event like this. People were allowed to bring backpacks and even cabin bags to the event and that is a problem in my mind. This is a light rum in my mind. The fruits are there as well as some varnish, coconut and peaches. The palate is lightly sour and has a light anis touch and some berries to it.

... Hampden, the legendary Jamaican distillery that besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery, you can smell wild esters, after which your whole body soaks up the scent of yellow tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".

Sea Shepherd Hampden LROK Ester fruit (yellow fruit) very present at first for an LROK. The taste has a subtle sherry influence and is not too sweet. On the whole a round thing. I would drink it again

For tasting as a sample directly from Kirsch. Hampden power right from the start! A young LROK with plenty of steam. Blind, I would perhaps have thought it had a little more to offer than LROK does. In addition to the usual Hampden aromas and a hint of sherry, I'm particularly surprised by the fat bacon note. I've only seen this intensity of smoke, almost like smoked meat, in a few bottlings from Hampden. Nevertheless, it remains a young Hampden with a sherry finish, of which there are unfortunately very many. But I like it better than many others!
