You get the classic Diamond wooden-pot-still profile: solvent and glue up top, then dried fruit, dark chocolate, coffee and burnt sugar. Interesting nose! The wooden pot stills are clearly noticeable, once the rum had some time to breath and steps beyond the strong initial solvent notes. Yet there is more to it. Additional fruits (citrus-y) and a hint of esters (DHE mind you, not Jamaican funk). Very interesting twist with quite some complexity. Similar picture on the palate. The blend provides an interesting twist on know Demerara profils from the wooden pots. Lots of fruits and an intense dark chocolate note are present. Yet, similarly to the other BB&R single barrel, this is very sweet and a factor to consider negatively in my book. Again very smooth and easy to drink despite its high ABV. This is interesting stuff out of DDL and far more engaging and exiting compared to some previous releases blends and cask finishes. Very happy to see stuff like this.

Still a little young and wild. Alcohol present, the Demerara sweetness unfortunately does not quite keep the profile in check. Not a bad rum, but clearly below average for Demerara single casks.

Many thanks to Tobias, who brought the bottles back from England and shared them in our Franconian Tasting Gang. All in all, a very solid bottling that meets all expectations, but unfortunately still doesn't stand out. A little weaker than the other bottling.

Fruity, tropically matured Demerara, which also contains parts of the two Wooden Pots (PM and Versailles) and DHE in addition to the MPRS. Fruit and the pots are in the foreground. Personally, however, I like the new LBI/DHE from El Dorado best of all the DHE rums released to date.

#7119 03.08.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after a horrible night with bad sleep terrible headache and bad stomach. Just slouching in front of the TV today trying to recover. Pretty nice rum with an OK price tag at release in my mind. Sweet profile with roasted wood, caramel, fruits, glue, chocolate and some coffee.

A little El Dorado tasting... The 9-year-old Berry Bros. surprises with some glue/solvent, alongside notes of dried fruit, burnt sugar and coffee. On the palate it's a little too spicy for me, and again a little too sweet. Not bad, but I liked the 13-year-old better and it can't keep up with most of the bottlings from the Rare Collection either.

First things first: don't expect an ester monster here. An intense caramel note plays first fiddle, surrounded by the typical markers of pot stills. The rum is heavy and sweet, the alcohol is excellently integrated. Despite everything, the caramel note is a little too dominant for me, so the sister cask from 2009, despite its lower ABV, comes out on top for me overall. Nevertheless, this is a rum that gives hope for DDL and is very fairly priced at £70.

The typical Demerara wooden pot still profile is there. The well-known Demerara sweetness, however, overshadows the profile a bit too much for me. Woodiness and a subtle fruitiness as well as an alcoholic sharpness are noticeable.
