Review by LukaŽiga
8,6:On the nose, the first impression we get is a classical gluey high esters Hampden with tropical fruits like pineapple, banana and citrus, the wood is spicy and roasted with sweet marzipan, as the molasses is vegetal with an olive. On aeration, it becomes more balanced with tempting pastry, cookie dough, perhaps yeast and caramel. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is typical with high esters, glue, as tropical fruits like mentioned before are fermented, overripe, sometimes rotten. The molasses is vegetal with the olive. The wood is roasted, spicy with sweet marzipan, honey, caramel and anise. Some salt crawls in...Resting turns fruits into dried ones with marmelade from apricots, prunes, maracuja, citrus. Some coconut is evident. What disbalances our delicious tasting is an intrusion of a bit sour and soapy notes. 8,4:The finish is long, but a little less pleasant than before, as the wood becomes quite tannic. Otherwise, smoky/earthy notes balance the act a bit. Edit:13.6.25

Notes and evaluation will be completed when all samples have been sent. Edit: In my opinion its a very good bottling, but I still miss that certain kick that would elevate it to the highest circles.

The fruity notes are somewhat fresher here and there is less fermented fruit. Lots of fruit on the palate here too, but not quite as intense and ripe as the House of Cane. Overall, quite round and easy to drink for a <>H. I like it very much.

#5575 21.08.2025 Relaxing in front of the TV watching the Joghurt Shop Murders. Nose Fresh, medium intense, light wood, light roasted, faint rubber, citrus, light anise, banana, light glue. Palate Oily, fresh, medium intense, light spicy, fruits, light glue, faint varnish, light anise, faint salt, mint. Finish Long and warm, oily, fresh, naturally sweet, light salt, banana, faint caramel. Empty glass Licorice, light olive, citrus, light glue. The longer it rests the better it gets and the more notes appear.

What can you say here, <>H as I know it. No outliers upwards or downwards. I like this Mark, I like this bottling. Alcohol very well integrated, easy to drink despite 60%. Fun to drink.

Solid <>H, which is fun and for me is in the upper midfield. I bought a bottle and don't regret the purchase, I just like <>H. Thanks to Jörg for the split!

Looking at a little 2013 <>H side-by-side today. On the nose the House of Cane bottling takes the crown with TCoR and Swells Constantia taking second place. The Nectar is the only real outlier, not able to compete with the pack. Roots comes with a bit more overripe notes, while TWJ is a bit stronger on solvent notes. Both are very nice as well. On the palate the crown goes to The House of Cane, again. Very high intensity with Hampden funk and fruits nicely balanced by some sweetness and cookie notes. CoR and TWJ both show an intense <>H profile as well, excellent. The SdS Constantia presents the most balanced profile. Very nice to drink indeed. Roots looses on the palate, unfortunately. There is a distinct note of lightly peated Whisky in the bottling. That’s not bad, but doesn’t benefit the rum imo. The Nectar, again, cannot fully win my heart. The cask presumably had less influence, leaving the bottling in a more alcoholic and less balanced state.

Great Hampden, without surprises it steps up between the top bottlings of 2013 / 2014 (at least for me it does). Note, palate and finish are balanced very well and it provides everything one would expect with a superb Integration of the alcohol. It is not overly complex but a dangerously companion in your glass.

Bottle Kill Rating. I like it quite a bit. Nice fruity nose. Not as fermented as other bottlings. Almost subtle for a <>H. I also have a very subtle malt note. The very well-integrated alcohol is noticeable in the mouth. Then there's the almost familiar interplay of fruity and slightly woody notes. Nice and round, you could even say too round 🙃

After a very fresh nose of exotic fruit and sweet juices, the palate surprises with a more animal side. Smoked meat and gamey aromas leave their mark on the palate. Really surprising, and the whole seemed too unbalanced on the first tasting, but less so on the next.

I needed a bottle because I really like RX1732 COR Hampden 2013 <>H. I still need to compare them side by side. But would give it to COR because of the extra punch. Still a very good rum from TWJ. Typical tropical fruits you get from Hampden. Some Marzipan but not as much as their NY botteling. Very easy to sniff no alcohol in the nose. Some alcohol in the mouth but very well integrated. Esters, fruit and glue. Medium finish. Will update after a second, third, fourth, ... taste. Edit: a bit higher rating because of the lovely nose!

Am der Nase schon fruchtige Noten. Ananas mit Banane mit einer schönen Intensität. Am Gaumen Jamaika pur. Überstreife Früchte, ester .. alles was man erwartet. Wunderbarer Hampden in der richtigen Dosis.

Wow, ziemlich perfekt!
