Gentle, drinkable Port Mourant light-weight For curious explorers into Demerara pot stills, this 23-year Uitvlugt/Port Mourant at 47.1% is a relaxed, distillate‑driven sipper with almond/marzipan, dried fruits, herbs and light smoke. Well-liked but relatively gentle for the age and origin.

Perfect for

Fans of classic Demerara and Port Mourant who want a softer, lower-ABV take with marzipan, dried fruit and gentle herbal-woody notes rather than full-on intensity.

Less suitable for

Those chasing cask-strength power, very intense Port Mourant pencil-shaving bitterness, or big complexity for the price and age.

It's very lemon-grassy. And the grass is kind of like wormwood. It's a favorite. The finish is short. I like Uitvlugt probably more than Jamaica, so I'm ok, but most people won't like it.

Slightly grassy, some banana, some black tea. Quite tasty, but doesn't particularly impress me.

Floral and fruity on the nose (stone fruit, passion fruit), plus old barrel. Candied on the palate, cardboard, brine, but also somewhat watery.

Somewhat mixed feelings here due to the key data. Nose ok. Grassy, earthy, woody and a little fruit. Quite thin in the mouth at first and, in my opinion, meaningless. But then the notes from the nose come to the fore. Plus a subtle "perfume note" (floral). Quite a short finish.

Das Port Mourant-Profil ist schon erkennbar, aber leider ist er etwas dünn, aber dafür natürlich sehr geschmeidig. In Abgang leichte torfige Whisky Note.

This Uitvlugt from The Whisky Jury doesn't really inspire me. On the nose, I perceive quite sweet aromas of cherry and similar fruits that remind me more of a Ten Cane. On the palate, the expected aromas, but unfortunately in far too thin a ratio. Alcohol is not noticeable. The finish is relatively short.

Relatively strong nose. Relatively leathery spices are at the start here. On the palate I can taste pome fruit ... Apple or pear. Almost Calvados-like notes are also present. Not a beginner's rum. Lingers well in the aftertaste.

Another rum that leaves me somewhat perplexed. Basically a typical Port Mourant with pencil shavings, some wood and leather and a slight, not unpleasant bitter note. The whole thing is disturbed by a sour note both on the nose and in the mouth. On the one hand, this is an interesting variation, but on the other hand, in my opinion, it is a false note that ruins the PM profile.
