Chocolate, spice and a wave of candied-fruit sweetness from the port finish sit on top of a recognisable Foursquare base. Vanilla, coconut and a little oak round it out, with the 52% ABV keeping things drinkable rather than hot. A couple of tasters loved how the finish is folded in; others felt the sweetness flattens it and wished for more depth on the short finish.

Most helpful positive review
Typical Foursquare aroma, subtly enriched by the finish. Flavour-wise, it's also an easily recognisable FS and a very approachable piece thanks to the smaller abv and probably the port finish. An honest rum and thanks to the 52% it might even be more approachable than the 60%+ version.

A decent amount of sweetness characterizes this rum due to the finish (I'm not a fan), which for me personally is not convincing here either. Notes of candied fruits, vanilla and light honey seem quite one-dimensional. There are also spicy nuances and a hint of wood, but these do not manage to balance the overall impression. Certainly interesting for fans of sweet rums, but I miss depth and complexity.

Spice-heavy profile from Barbados with some wood, chocolate, allspice and bitter-roasted notes, plus typical notes from the finish in ex-sweet wine barrels: dried fruits, roasted nuts, heavy sweetness. Interestingly, I also perceive slight tobacco-like, earthy notes that initially even made me think of another finish - the notes are rather peripheral but I still always have them in the spectrum. An interesting, successful release, but lacking final impact - the interplay between the very spicy basic aroma and the sweet wine barrel doesn't fully work for me, which is certainly also due to my individual preferences.

So the nose and palate I don't find bad at all. Fits me very well. Slightly oily on the palate. So positive. I mean the alcohol comes a bit rough. Which surprises me a bit given the percentage. But it is not spirituous. Unfortunately, the finish is a bit too short for me. Very good at the beginning. For me personally. But unfortunately ends very quickly. Shame! Still, it's a solid rum.
