Sipped neat, this drinks soft and slightly sweet up front — vanilla and caramel with orange peel, a bit of coconut and a fresh, young-wood edge. Members find it rounded and easy to drink, but several call it thin on complexity with a short finish, and one or two feel the alcohol pokes through. A pleasant, uncomplicated Belize column pour rather than one to dig into.

#5262 19.04.2025 Enjoying some samples while watching the TV series Grimm. Nose Fresh, light wood, faint roasted, vanilla, light earthy, light orange, faint caramel,. Palate Light oily, faint tobacco, light wood, light orange, light caramel, spice, faint coconut, faint chocolate. Finish Medium to long,, fresh, light oily, light wood, faint roasted, light chocolate, light dried fruit. Empty glass Vanilla, chocolate, light caramel, faint orange.

Alcohol well integrated, nice and round overall, but lacking in complexity. Rather short finish.

Recht süsslicher Einstieg mit deutlichen Vanille- und Karamellnoten. Dazu kommen tropische Früchte, etwas Kokos und eine feine Würze. Im Mund weich, aber nicht besonders komplex, mit einem eher kurzen Abgang. Insgesamt eine solide Abfüllung, aber für meinen Geschmack zu eindimensional und alkoholisch.

Basically, I like Cognac finishes - I associate them with present fruit notes, which, unlike sweet wine, are much more pointedly integrated into the aroma spectrum of the base product. Especially with profiles transitioning from Spanish to English rum style, this is often a very successful interplay. Unfortunately, this success recipe only works partially in this case - both in the rum's aromatics and in the embedding of the Cognac notes, I find a lack of finesse. Among the SBS releases tasted side by side, this bottling is therefore the weakest for me, even though we are definitely still on a good level.

This rum is a solid pour, though it didn’t exactly surprise me. The nose brings caramel, coffee, and a hint of wood, setting up a smooth but predictable Belize profile. On the palate, there’s a light bitterness with fruity and caramel notes, underscored by subtle spice and wood. It finishes with faint fruity and caramel tones. While it lacks some complexity and depth, it’s well-crafted with no flaws to speak of. A decent, reliable rum, though not a standout for those seeking a more intricate experience.

Pleasant sweetish aroma, taste quite strange and bland

The aroma is quite peculiar, technical, burnt, caramel, vanilla and cinnamon. The taste is unexpectedly rounded for me, mainly dried fruit and caramel. In the finish mainly vanilla, caramel, dried fruit, coconut. For me an original Belize, gentle and drinkable.
